Gave an A4 1.8TQ the 0wN!ng of its life!

This was this past Wednesday when I was coming back from my class. I saw this older blue A4 1.8T Quattro (150 HP version) hauling butt up ahead as I merged onto this feeder highway that goes out to the Interstate so I get on it and slowly run him down at about 90 mph and sure enough, he's heading my way as he gets into the long exit ramp.

I was just cruising behind him before using him as my cop shield, but he's still cooking through the turn thinking his AWD is all bad-azz so I run him down through the long 180 out to the Interstate. So now we're on the entrance ramp to the major Interstate and I'm right on his tail. He punches it and so do I, and I own him hardcore in 3rd gear. I completely out-powered him and beat him to this hole in traffic and said cya.

But wait, there's more.

Now he decides he wants to show me who's boss on the highway so he flicks his hi-beams at me and punches it and gets a GOOD jump on me of over 10 mph from 80 mph. I quickly downshifted to 4th and hammered it, matched speeds in a matter of seconds, and then proceeded to walk him bad all the way up to 110 mph and then had to shut it down for traffic. Many many car-lengths, not even close.

But wait, there's more.

Now he tries the same exact thing again, with the same result, only this time I keep it planted all the way through 4th and then shift up to 5th around 120 and stay on it.

I lost site of him but he caught up about 5 minutes later and he flew by me and looked awfully mad. I don't know if he was 5spd or automagic. One thing I definitely know is that he was NOT chipped, but he probably will be in a few weeks.

hehehe

My friend has a '98 Passat 1.8T 5-spd and lemme tell ya...before he chipped it that thing was soooo slow. The chip he has now gives him something like 205hp and a bunch of torque apparently, but it still doesn't seem as fast as my Max, and my powertrain is still stock. I can't wait to get an intake and y-pipe and show him what's up.

LOL, I know

I'm just posting up my kill story. The CL-S was much more challenging. A chipped 1.8T would definitely be a much better challenge, but I haven't run into one of those yet.

You can buy performance upgrades on the VW/Audi turbo engines that take your OE ECU (you send it in) and they reprogram it to make higher boost and hence more power. It's a "computer chip" mod, and hence the term "chipped" 1.8T.

A stock 1.8T engine makes anywhere from 150-180 HP, but a "chipped" one will easily make over 200HP. A stock 2.7T engine makes 250HP, but will make 320HP when "chipped."

good kill. I just raced my buddy's new (well old, but he got it used ) '99 stock 1.8T (still 150hp I believe). Smoked him pretty bad and I'm stock power-mod wise, but we're gonna have a rematch once he gets chipped
