Does Custom Paint count?

Heres a pic of the interior of my old car. I used Silver Metallic paint on the dash and door panels. I painted other items (window switches, gauge bezel, ashtray, radio compartment) with a Medium Gray Metallic/Silver mix. Takes a long time if done correctly. I can find some closeup pics and door panel pics if you want.

Looks Good! Thanks for the pics Bro... so yeah, if you can find some closeups and door panel pics that would help too...

How long is a long time to do it right? Did you have to sand anything before painting? Did you apply a clear coat?

I would like to know about the sanding too. Did you just use a really fine grit paper? and what kind of paint? just everyday spraypaint or what? thanks

Actually, I just brushed the panels with some steel wool just to clean it. I didnt use any sandpaper. I am going to be redoing the painting in my new car, so I might try sandpaper on it to see how it comes out. The paint can be found at Wal-Mart for about $3 a can. It called Auto Spray and it comes in small cans. You WILL need multiple cans! To make it come out nicely, you will need to spray light even coats from about 3-4 feet away. This way the paint does not run or glob. The paint dries within 10 minutes, so after that give it another coat. then cover it with clear. If you want a "metallic" shine to it like mine, you can leave off the clear. But this will cause the paint to scratch easily over time...But I think it looks better without the clear.
