I have to store my max, need advice!

Ok, it is a really long story, but due to some insurance problems and a few tickets I incurred, I have to store my Maxima because I can't pay for it. I have to wait for the tickets to roll off (2 YEARS!) before I can drive it again. It is a sad day indeed. Anyways despite all that I still need to know how to properly store my vehicle. I have already purchased a nice car cover (it will be garaged too). Do I need to put it up on jack stands? What fluids do I need to drain? Any other good advice? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Damn! Two years is a really long time. You may want to just sell the car and buy something else in two years. Does the Long Term storage cover insurance for theft or fire? You will also need to intermittently give the car a "leg stretch" for those 2 years too.

Yeah I am seriously considering selling it, as well as the aftermarket parts. I havent made up my mind just yet, I have to see how things turn out with all these insurance problems I am dealing with right now...
I have only owned the car for about four months. But due to a recent problem with insurance I would have to pay 3k per 6mos for insurance, which I cannot afford. So this may soon be for sale-

1995 Maxima SE 5spd., Graphite, (second owner) put less than 5000 mi. on it) 80000 mi. now. Originally a Mississsippi car, purchased from Milwaukee dealership. never seen winter (now located in Milwaukee)

-Stillen intake (on for less than 1500 mi)
-Stillen Bull-nose stainless steel exhaust (on for less than 1500 mi)
-Stillen RSB (on for less than 3000 mi)
-BRAND NEW Courtesy Nissan ST bar (on for less than 20 mi)
-Sparco blk leather shift **** (on for less than 1000 mi)
-new NGK plugs (on for less than 500 mi)
-Aftermarket Sony CD/Tape player w/ original bose spkrs (came with car)

This car is (was?) my baby. I never drove her hard, I wash it every week, wax every 2 wks. Has some small scratches. All I really use it for is trips from Milwaukee to Detroit, and it is primarily driven in Milwaukee, stored in a covered parking garage in Detroit.

Dude, as much as I'd tell you to keep in long term storage, selling the car makes much more sense.

Take off your mods if you want, store those. Heck, in two years, 4th gens should be pretty comfortable on the pocketbooks and you'll be able to slap those parts right back on. Of course, by that time, you might be driving a 6th gen Maxima.

I gotta store mine too??

I have to put mine into storage(garage-friend of family). Unfortunately the Navy wants me to travel overseas for about 2 years. I wouldn't dream of selling it....I don't understand how it would be worth a lot less?? It will be an 8 yr old car with less than average mileage but compared to the newer Maximas it still looks way better. Obviously the engine could use a little more power but like most enthusiasts I bought my car because I love the style and dependability........ excuse me for a moment while I go spend some quality time with my car

In all honesty if he can't afford to pay for the 4th gen why would he set his goals on a 5th gen?? Just my $.02

Because with the money he gets with the sale of his 95 and money saved, in two years, he may be able to get a 5th gen. Sitting in the garage freezes your miles, but the car still ages and depreciates pretty badly... Sounds like his car is worth about $6-7k. In two years, a 2000 max will be about $10k or so.
