I just bought a used 1995 Maxima GXE 5 Speed with 98000 miles on it. It starts a little hard sometimes, especially in the morning or when it is low on gas. I read somewhere that intermittent hard starts is common to the maxima, so I ignored this problem. Well today, I cranked it (it took a few cranks to start) and the check engine light came on. My car still runs smooth and has no problem starting. Has anyone experienced this before? I am gonna run an engine diagnostic test on it tomorrow. My guess is that the spark plugs needs to be replaced. But I will appreciate all comments and opinions. Thanks!

 

If you want to save a few bucks: pull your plugs and check 'em your self, and run your ECU yourself......

 

There's no point in guessing until you find out the code.. It could be a bunch of other things, such as fuel filter, throttle body, battery, starter, etc..

 

Hard starts? Clean your throttle body!
