Is this a good price for 2k3 SE?
Hey everyone! I've been a maxima fans for years and I'm thinking about getting one. I recently got an online quote from Capitol Nissan (san jose, ca) and here is what they quoted me:
NISSAN MAXIMA SE 2003 - Super Black/Black Cloth
Thank you for your interest in the 2003 Nissan Maxima SE, oOur Stock
#15244
(pictures follow).
MSRP $27,566.00
Invoice $25,234.00
Your Price $25,034.00
Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price as equipped including
- V6, 3.5L, 6spd Manual Transmission
- Helical Limited Slip Differential
- Sunroof
- Floor Mats
and Destination Charge is $27,566.00. The corresponding Manufacturer’s
Invoice is $25,234.00 and your no-hassle, no-haggle price will be
$25,034.00 + tax, license & doc fees. Factory incentives of $500.00 (expiring 9/30/02) have already been deducted from this price.
Nissan has announced interest rates as low as 0.9% for terms of 12/24
months, 3.9% for 36 months and 4.9% for 48/60 months on new 2003
Maximas through 9/30/02 (on approved credit).
Is this a good price? I checked up on Edmunds and the invoice prices for the options aren't listed for the 2003 model yet. So I took the invoice prices for the 2002 model and it came out to be a little more expensive than the price the dealer is giving me.
What do you guys think? Any opinions and suggestions would be helpful. Thanks again! This forum has been a great insight for me.

Sorry to ask these dumb questions, but this is my first time buying a car, or at least trying to.
Thanks guys,

Since we're both looking for a 2002-3, if we purchase together we might get a better discount

Tax, lic and doc fees will run you close to $2000 all together. Paying 8.25% for tax sucks

The prices you are quoting sound about right, biglaw11. Make sure you have a set price and interest rate that you will not go beyond when you go to the dealer. Also you may want to check to see if your job or a job of a close relative has some kind of vehicle purchasing program that will give you a break on the sales price. That is what I did when I bought my 2k3 two weeks ago. Got $5,000 of and the dealer still wanted to haggle over the interest rate.

I drive past a nissan dealer every day and saw a brand new (what's the gold color?) SE for $20,999 today. It's sitting out front, but probably not for long.

come to NY!! they are giving them away!!! i paid 25.8K for a LOADED SE w/o nav and a 6spd. the special that week was 5K off any 02 MAX. so, i looked in the paper last weekend, and 03s they were discounted 4k! so, keep looking, that price is high to me. if you pay 25K for a car with those options, you are getting ripped off....

Re: Is this a good price for 2k3 SE?
i would tell the dealer what you would pay. understand, this is someones way of making a living so invoice or a couple hundred over should be enough. tell the dealer you wis hto see the invoice when the car comes in. if they hesitate get out, you are not dealing with an honest group. do not pay dealer prep fees, enviromental package fees, lot fees, application fees, etc. because most dealers will try to throw 300-400 worth of misc. fees to get more profit!!! negotiate this and get it in writing before ordering the vehicle. you do not know if the salesman will quit before you return so that is sometimes all the dealer has to go on. good luck and i hope this helps some

$25k. This included my $5k discount. I live in Northern VA and cars are fairly expensive here. With the vehicle purchasing program I could not bargain on the price. If I would have known that I would have got leather seats. I think you can get the same price if you let them know you are ready to buy. Or at least $26k. Just keep shopping.

Here in Dallas @ Bankston Nissan, they have $5k off deals on SE's. I haven't decided if I'm going to get a 330CI, or will stick with a Max, and upgrade to a six-speed TE SE. Feel free to PM me, I'll give you my cell # so that we can talk. If you're up to coming to Big D for your Max, I'll be glad to either call my local dealer or swing by to see if they have what you want. At $5K off M.S.R.P., you can afford a fully loaded SE with leather and all options except Navi for $25-26K. I do not work for Nissan, I'm just trying to help an orgy. friend.

Why would you pay anything over invoice if they are having a $500 rebate on 03's? The dealer just made $800 + what ever dealer holdback he receives.
