reverse indiglo gauges in process.. hehe...

as some of you might know, right now i'm in Frankfurt at the Automechanika 2002. the other day i was talking to one of the guys here that makes indiglo gauges and he said that he will make it for us 5th gen peeps... FINALLY.. he's actually based out of Houston and factory's in taiwan. he's a pretty cool guy and said it shouldn't be too diff to make reverse for us. i'll have him send me a sample when he gets this made to make sure it's good quality. i'm sure this will make many of you happy. chances are he'll be dealing through me so i'll be selling these to you direct. I'll keep you guys posted.

Sweet!! Many people have been looking for these. There was even an effort at a group deal, but the person who was looking into manufacturing them said he needed 3000 people!!! OUCH! Crazy...but yeah keep us updated. Post up in the Group Deal forum when you are ready to sell. What's the time frame look on these?

Only thing is that the gauges right now are nice, but one thing is for sure, the gauges wont look right, cause we have a "tail" on the end of each needle, mainly the two main ones have almost 1/2" sticking out. That makes it almost impossible to make a nice fitting gauge overlay. Only way is A) make a bigger hole on the gauge overlay, thus will look shady....... or B) take the needle off and then put the gauge overlay in......also shady.

it could just come with a small cut so we can just slide the gauge over the needles..plus once we slide the gauge over, you can't really see the cut line any more

sups kidz.. i just talked to the guy again yesterday and expressed more of my interest in the reverse gauges. i asked him to send me a sample when i get back to the States. what he did mention is, however, that production will take at least 45days for custom gauges. i'm sure since you guys have waited this long a little bit longer won't kill ya. haha... this deal should go through as he said they already have to mold for the 2K/2K1 gauges. the 2K2+ people will have to wait in line since you guys are spoiled with that extra LCD. anyhow, yes. i'll keep you guys posted.

oh yeah, re:fitment issues. i'll discuss this with him today and see how they have been able to deal with this.

here's the possible sample of the kit we're talking about. tell me guys if you like or dislike this style. we can always just do the OG white face gauges if you want.
NOTE: this is just a sample.. not the real thing...

That's the exact same thing I was thinking when I saw the pic! I was thinking put the "MAXIMA" where the SI was...but then I remembered that we have 2 seperate guages for the fuel and temp. Maybe put it on the RPM guage?

FoodManry: I think the auto and the manual guages are the same.

Oh I didn't think they would come with the face only. Tought it would be the whole unit. Of course this makes it much cheaper, which is good What's the length and difficulty of an install like this?

I like that look. The titanium, greyish during the day and then indiglo at night is sweet. Yeah Maxima in bold letters like the emblems on the trunk. Aren't the emblems slightly different from 2k&2k1, compared to 2k2&2k3? Anyone know?

Two things,

first off, you should make it reverse indiglo (HYPER WHITE or BLUE).. because the regular indiglo is really tacky in a maxima (or any car for that matter)..

2nd, indiglo gauges can be cut without harm.. I know because i had to cut my girlfriends indiglo gauges to make them fit..

Thus you should make the guages for 2k-2k1... For us 2k2 guys, you should provide on the reverse side of the tach gauge an outline so that we can cut it with a knife and make an opening for the 2nd LCD screen..

I have seen indiglos for the 2k-2k1 on ebay but its like a 5 piece kit and looks really retarded to have all those pieces..

We just need to have it for the actual guages and not the warning/signal light areas..

I second this! But make sure you add the maxima logo where it looks good. Nice idea! Reverse Indiglo is so much better than indiglo. I would rather have my stock guages than regular indiglo.

Yes, make sure that the maxima font used on the gauges matches the style of the 2k-2k1 font for the 2k-2k1 guages and the 2k2+ matches for the 2k2+. The emblems are different.

I don't like the white during the day look. I would rather see a steel gray, titanium, or something along those lines. But the night picture is nice. Definitely love that!

I'm curious as to where this thing stands now. Is it still a go ahead on the gauges? Is it being worked on? Developed? Making them right now? I would like to know what's going on as I'm sure other org members would as well.

Thanks for your time.

Maybe it's just me... I like the 2002+ Reverse Indiglo Guages from ProCarParts.com, but I have some issues with Reverse Indiglo.

First, the green indiglo color should be banned from the Maxima. That includes the indiglo door seals. They should instead offer them in Red, HyperWhite, Blue, and possibly Purple (based on user feedback). Sorry to those who own green Maxes, but I don't think you'd want 2 different shades of green floating around your max. After all, we aren't made by Honda.

Second, if we got the Blue, make the guages completely Blue at night (except where Redlines are needed) like VW does. If they are Red, make them completely red (orange at redline?) like Pontiac does. If they are HyperWhite, then use REAL HyperWhite illumination, not knock-off brand (redlines are acceptable).

Third, face colors should be changable. I know that Import Intelligence makes different colors of faces. Silver, Blue, White, Black, Carbon Fiber, etc. That gives it a unique look, as well as variety.

Lastly, I'd want mine to be silver-faced like the stock ones (for that stock look), but VW Blue (with Redlines) at night. Since I haven't found those yet, I'm still stock in the guage department.

Personally, I like the way the white gauges look during the day. If these don't get made, I would consider buying a cluster out of the 2k1 SE because I really like how it looks. They look white to me but i've been told and YELLED AT by y2ksesteve because he says they are 'titanium'. haha
