I used the heated steering wheel for the first time in my '03 max. I have to say, I am very impressed...it felt so nice to drive with that warm wheel this morning on my way to work. I have to admit, that when I bought the car I didn't think I would ever use it, but now I'm hooked. My drive to work was a complete joy this morning. I'd say the wheel was completely heated in about one minute. Again, quite impressive for a car not to be considered entry-level luxury sedan. Just thought I'd voice my opinion...anyone else???

I second that....

This morning was a brisk 44F and I had the steering wheel and seat warming me up. Greatest thing since sliced bread! Now I know why I spent the extra money on the meridian package.

Old man winter doesn't stand a chance.

 

Yup I love the heated steering wheel/seats. I got the Meridian package with cloth interior in my SE. But I'm getting leather with that GD, so I can't wait for that!

 

How many cars have this option available?? The Maxima/I35 is the first car I've seen it on... Nobody else I know has this wonderful option...including the Acura TLS!!!

 

is there anyplace you can buy the heated wheel and controls from?

Heated Seats and Steering Wheel are standard on the TLS... plenty of cars have it. And I think you have to have leather to get heated seats. Cloth and heat might not be the best of combinations.

 

Are you sure the TLS has a heated steering wheel?? I know about the seats... My buddy has a TLS and have never noticed the steering wheel...

 

I stand corrected. The seats are heated.. the steering wheel isn't even an option. I've seen it as a feature on a lot of luxury cars though, I'm surprised Acura didn't include it... but then again, there isn't much you can add to the TLS or any Acura.. most of their stuff is standard.. 'cept for the Navi.. and some exterior detailing.

my steering wheel heater doesn't work and the f'ers at nissan won't fix it...they made up some bs saying it only works in extremely cold temps which is a complete LIE.

yeah i have a 2k2 withg meridian and leather....god it feels good on my way to school in the morning to heat up my hands..havent really used the heated seats yet though..

 

I have the Meridian, but Im sad to say since I live in Southern Cal, Ive only used it about 3 times warming my hands in the AM....

 

I live in southern TX and I was wondering if they made a steering wheel cooler?

In my case it was part of the loaded to the brim AE I got.

Funny thing is, there are a few weeks each year when we do have at least the potential for hard freezes, particularly overnight...

and the ladies love leather seats that are not cold to sit on!

Saab 9-5 Aero has the seat coolers too.

As for heated steering wheels, I think you are limited to the Benz E-class ($400 for the wheel and $650 for the front seats!), the BMW 5 and 7-series and the Maxima. That is it. Lexus and Infiniti don't even offer it on their $50-60K+ cars. Most of the premium cars come with some wood on the steering wheel which makes the heating element pretty tough to do.

 

Call NNA, this is a load of bull. The heater in my steering wheel failed after I had the car for a week. Took it in and they replaced the entire steering wheel.

 

uh, take a look at the I35....

 

I took that one as assumed since the I35 is just a more loaded Maxima. There are no features available on a Maxima that you can't get on an I35...except the 6-speed manual and HLSD.

 

actually when you get the heated steering, you get the sport (leather wrapped) steering wheel instead of the wood trim one.

Yeah, the seats and wheel heaters are great up here in OH! Now if they just made a heated shifter since I drive with one hand on the wheel and the other on the shifter.

 

anyone think their steering wheel gets too hot? I had mine on yesterday and that sucker was really warm!

Its nice though, with that and the heated seats, i dont even need the heat on! If you have leather, you need heated seats! Damn leather is COLD!!!!

 

What about the sunshade package? And a more sleeker looking Navigation system that pops up out of the front dash.

 

Thats about the only differences I can think of. Heck, my 2001 I30 doesn't even have the heated steering wheel option

 

I would LOVE to have a heated shift ****...that would be nice!

My steering wheel only heats up once and then it seems to shut off the heat but the light stays on on the switch.

It heats up awsome the first time but then gets cold and wont heat up.

Any thoughts???

I was told it was because it is on a timer like a rear defogger. So it doesn't overheat. It ****es me off too, I love driving with the windows open and the heated seat and wheel kickin! It almost seems like it has a mind of its own

 

My wheel shuts off after about 10 mins... It's normal. I though mine was broken until I did a search.

And yes, it does rock...esp. here in Boston.
