KYB GR2's for $172.72 shipped

Hi,

Just wanted to tell everyone that I think I found a good price for the kyb gr2's on www.jagworks.com website. Any order over $75.00 gets free shipping. The price for the two front struts and two rear inserts is $172.72 including shipping. I've ordered lots of stuff from these guys and they're good. Also they have excellent prices on brembo blank discs. Hope this helps any third gen fellas out there who is in the market for shocks and brakes or whatever, they sell everything for our cars.

that's a damn good deal. has anyone ever heard of boge? they're more expensive than the kybs.

btw, are the strut mounts and bearings necessary?

strut mounts are needed if they're worn out or if the half circle becomes a full circle, my mechanic told me a good way to test them is to put your hands on the spring and move it and if you have movement it's usually a bad strut mount. I dunno how accurate that is but it worked when I did the front shocks for my friend the front right strut mount was the problem. If you buy a new strut mount it comes with a new bearing, i think kyb makes strut mounts but the most common brand is by monroe and they call it the strut mate by monroe and it includes a new strut mount and a new bearing, you should buy two new strut mounts becuase the new one will be bigger than the stock strut mounts but I think they eventually collapse or something like that.

When I replace my struts w/ whatever brand I use, what other hardware will be required?

I already got my KYB's from Jagworks and a couple of other things, they are fast and great pricing. You would need struts and dust boots, I would recommend some lowering spring too...

I need new struts too. I have close to 234k on my 93GXE. I don't race, but I do punch it once in a while (after I cure my ills I guess). Where should I start to look for struts. What will the different brands/ types do for me. All I know is that they provide the type of ride (soft/ hard), and the amount of "stick", along w/ tires in the corners.

You take turns and hit bumps in the road, racing doesn't really have anything to do with it. With 234k on the car, I bet it's time for some new shocks and struts. Is your ride bumpy right now?

Ride is still "Cadillac-like" but noisy. Sounds like something is loose underneath car. So, I need shocks AND struts. Do they come in a set or, I can I mix and match? What does one or the other do differently so that I can make choices?

well if you are referring to these KYB GR2's. It will be a strut assembly in the front and strut inserts in the rear. KYB makes GR2 shocks for 4th gen rears.

yeah so when ordering from Jagworks, you need. 1 Left side Strut for the front, 1 Right side Strut for the front and 2 Cartridges for the rear, exactly the same so buy 2 of them, one for each side in the rear.

Shocks and Struts act the same thing. Some cars that are cheap, use shocks and the good ones use struts. 3rd gens have 4 struts and 4 springs.

Your springs are probably fine man. Go to the website and take a look. Jagworks.com .

You have 4 struts. That is what you need. The one's in the rear are interchangable and left and right do not matter. But the fronts you have to order as front left or front right.

You need 4 struts total. 2 in the front and the 2 rear inserts, you could get dust boots, but the ones I got from jagworks.com didnt fit with my KYB's funny, cause the dust boots were KYB. If you are going to do your struts, I would recommend springs at the same time, although your springs are not BAD, springs never go bad, it would just be an opportunity for you to lower your car a bit and get rid of that nasty wheel gap and enhance your handling, see my car in my sig? that is Intrax springs and KYB struts, looks nice eh? handles like a go kart too...

What the HELL are you saying dude! Please don't make statements about things you know nothing about..shocks an McPherson struts correspond to two different suspension designs. Opinions differ on advantages of both. The McPherson setup is basically a way that manufacturers save $$..less parts and cheaper to build. So actually, the opposite of what you said is true. Plus, I personally think shocks with upper and lower control arms are a much better setup. See any full on race cars using struts without an upper control are? No. Plus it is easier to work on too. So think before you say stuff like that.

If I lower it, it'll feel like my wife's Honda (which doesn't feel bad BTW) Do you have probs w/ hitting the underside of the car?
