Is the steering different in the SE vs. GLE/GXE?
The subject title says it all. Never driven a GLE/GXE, so I have no basis to judge, but I remember reading something that the steering is slightly tighter in the SE. Thoughts?

I think you are referring to the Polyurethane bushings that are part of the suspension. That is the only difference between an SE and a GXE/GLE.

The springs are stiffer and the bushings as Ramius pointed out above. Don't forget the wheels are wider also.-Cyrus
from a GXE and an SE owner..
Definately..
My 98 GXE is very "floaty"
the steering is too light for my tastes.. which sucks on the highways. The struts and shocks are still in good condition as the car has like 72k miles on it.
My 97 SE is much more tight feeling. I can feel the car way better.. more precise.. when going like 60+ it is a lot better as well..
the GXE has some play in it before it actually gets to turning.. 97 is very on point.
Another thing is..
SEs had something called "Speed sensitive steering" if I'm not mistaken..
whatever that may include or be.
but yes, supposedly the only differences are the steering wheels, stiffer bushings and stiffer struts/shocks and springs as well ( i think ).
