Is there anyway to tell a 95 and 96 apart or a 97-99 apart?

I know how to tell the difference between the 95-96 and the 97-99 but is there any real way to tell the diffence between like a 95 and a 96?

Whoopsies I didn't read the post as usual... I think the drivers side seat is powered on SE & GLE '96s, but not available on any '95s.

The 96 has a big cupholder in the console that the 95 doesnt have. The 96 has full OBDII emmisions controls that the 95 doesnt have.

What is different between the 95/96 and 97-99 that makes the ECU ineffective on the later?

95-96 virtually indistinguishable except for minor things like the cupholder.

97 has a standard odometer, 98+ (im pretty sure) has digital...hmmm what else

What does the 95 have in place of the cupholders?

i've got a 95 SE and it does have a cup holder in the center console. but it doesn't have the cover that flips over the top, and it's also not as big. mine holds only one drink, i think the newer models can hold two.

however, i'm almost positive the 95 and 96 consoles are identical (i just bought my 95 a few months ago and looked at several different year models). i think the new console with the flip-top lid came in 97.

also, i do have a power driver's seat, but not passenger's seat.

DIFFERENCES

96 has a piece seperating the cup holders vs 95's taht just have the round circles for cup holders

Any 96 that has a power seat on driver side also has it on passenger side vs the 95 which only has it on the driver side

*myth possibly* 95 has no restrictions for like smog or some exhaust thing vs all other generations that have some extra restriction allowing 95's to be a tiny bit faster

95 has more space in the front underneath the car making it easier to do conversion on my 95 GLE vs skeelo's 96 GLE. (he said there was more space for him to move around in my car vs his)

no other differences i see

Re: DIFFERENCES

as far as under the hood goes 95 lack the "boost sensor" that the 96+ have. It does something with the air inside the car
