Stick/tranny Q

When I'm driving the rpm is usually at around 3, 3-an-a-half.
Used to be, when I put my foot down, the revs would climb steady and the power would come on smooth.
Now, it starts out ok, the revs climb and it growls right (due to the stillen hi-flow)
but the revs only go up to say about 4 or 4-an-a-half,
then it bogs down and the tach swings back to the start point (meaning 3, not 1) and then climbs again.
This doesn't happen if I am easy on the gas, it'll accelerate pretty smoothly (but slowly)
- it only happens when I really put the boot in.
Happens the same way at lower rpm as well.
I don't think I'm driving any differently,
I've had the Hi-flow in for a while and it didn't do it when first installed, so it isn't that.
The dealer said that it was related to an alternator problem
(see thread titled "Dead Alternator - Recall related")
- that it might have been causing a computer problem.
They just replaced the alternator and did a regular service on the car, but it still does it.
I'm low on cash and don't really want to take it back to the shop
(unless they'll check it out for free)

Anyone experience anything like this?

Any thoughts on why it might be happening?

Any thoughts on how to fix?

Yer help is appreciated, thanks

MAF sensor problem is what pops into my head first. Have you tried to read any codes, even if CEL isn't on?

get a flush, you probably have a MAF problem or lots of carbon buildup.

OK, I know a MAF is the Mass Air Flow sensor,
but I don't know what the CEL is or how to read the codes...

MaiximaRider -
"get a flush"? - I thought that was for the coolant system/radiator
and I know that's not what yer talking about.
What do you mean?

And thanks for the help guys

That's the sticky on how to read out ECU codes. See what you get out of it and we can go from there.
