Bad Battery from Optima Group Deal Replaced
Bad Battery from Optima Group Deal Replaced
Thanks to Joe at Power Systems that sold the batteries to Richie, a.k.a. klubjunkee, the defective battery my friend got frmo the group deal, was replaced.
About two weeks ago, my buddy was stranded when his car would not start one morning. The Optima that he received in this group deal was SEVERELY sulphated. He ran a series of tests, in the form of cycling and taking readings. At this time, he told me about it, and I posted a warning to those that were in the group deal, to have their batteries checked, while contacting Richie at the same time. My friend also contacted Optima, and with the stampings on his battery, the customer service representative confirmed that his battery was manufactured in 1998.
By this time, Richie had already been contacted by those he had sold Optimas in the previous group deal, as well as from previous sales of Optimas to both the org, and on other internet groups like the org, wondering whether they also had received old sulphated batteries.
Well, to get the batteries covered by warranty replacement, Optima requires a receipt. However, through this group deal, there was none. So I called Richie to set up a meet with his supplier, who happens to be Joe from Power Systems out in Oakville. We met him on Saturday, and he ran a series of checks on my friend's Optima, as well as my own, and we all agreed. The Optima my friend received was behaving like it was severely sulphated, while mine was nice and strong. He then replaced the battery, and I must say, it was a pleasant experience. We discussed his business (he supplies uninterrupted power supplies for things like traffic lights, but his business stretches to way beyond that, including Optima batteries), talked cars for a bit (there was a GORGEOUS 69 Lotus in a parking lot right beside our cars).
Thanks go out to Joe, and Richie who did their part in remedying the problem. If you want a cheap Optima, talk to Richie or Joe. You may get a freak occurence of a 98' battery somehow getting to you, but if you do, they will fix the problem.

Also, how may i contact Richie or Joe if i decide to get an optima? Thanks, and i'm glad your scenario worked out.
I believe they went for $190 CAD, so that works out to be about $120.25 USD using a 1.58 exchange rate (not sure what it is currently tho, the math won't be too hard n e wayz to get another exchange rate in there
). Contact the org member klubjunkee (aka. Richie) to get your Optima!
