Definitive answer on electronic to "standard" suspension?

After reading the 20 or so different threads that search came back with ,I still don't have a good answer as to what is the story is on converting to standard shocks from a car with the electronic adjustables on it?

The 89' that I just bought is going to need shocks before the winter is out, so I want to get it out of the way while its still nice out. The thread about the KYB's for ~$175 is very alluring.

Thanks!
