Help please...starter removal

I can't figure out how to get the solenoid terminal connector off. Does the power lead on the post above it come off so you can see what you're doing better?

Yes. You have to remove both wires if you intend on taking the starter motor out. It is a good idea to disconnect the battery negative cable before touching those starter wires.

What were your symptoms when your starter went bad? I'm getting a strange noise just after my car starts up on cold days...was wondering if it was starter related. The car starter works fine, but is followed by a nasty noise for a second or two. Can't seem to isolate it yet, but I've been seeing all the postings on starters going bad and wondered what the first symptoms were. Any help would be appreciated! Tx!
