Just installed Frakencar, comments -

Hello everyone. I don't mod my car very often, but when I do, I try to post a review. I just installed the Frankencar midpipe (only the midpipe, as I already have a JWT pop charger), and here are my comments.

The installation was fairly straightforward. It was easy for me to remove everything since I already had the stock airbox and air duct removed for my JWT cone. The resonator was difficult to remove from the MAF though, I had to pry at it with a screwdriver and ended up damaging the rubber seal. Doesn't matter though, since it isn't needed with the new setup anyways. I also had to bend the stock breather tube around the ATF dipstick to get it to fit onto the midpipe.

The car started right up, no CEL over approx 100 miles of driving so far.

Noise: The car is a little louder with this setup, but the noise is not obtrusive. At WOT, it still revs smoothly to redline, but I think is due more to my Cattman ypipe than the midpipe.

Performance: I notice no difference in performance with the midpipe as opposed to the JWT cone and Ypipe alone. I think for people thinking that the midpipe will give back the low end torque they lost with the cone, this is not the mod for you, as the butt dyno cannot feel a big difference. If you like the noise and cleaner engine bay look, then by all means go for it.

So there you have it, good luck everyone with your Frankencars. Be VERY careful disassembling the resonator from the MAF and you will not get a CEL.

I also installed mine couple days ago with JWT and now with 70 miles and mine is also an auto. the very first thing i've notice after the installation was the sound. the sound was higher in term of frequency and it was also louder at mid range RPM. the deep sound pretty much the same (well a little higher frequency) at high RPM compare to JWT alone. About performance, I felt a little better at mid range RPM and about the same for low end compare to JWT alone.

WOW

Wow that's quite a handful of breakdowns...

fuel regulator...starter...OMG I thought maxima was better than this.

But well, it also depends on the driver and the environment.
So considering you are a decent driver, it must be Alaska or Rio Grande or the Rockies where you live

Eric, I think if you didn't have the y-pipe you would have felt more of a difference. Going from stock, there is definitely a difference.

You are probably correct. Before I had the Ypipe I could feel gains from the intake alone. Not much, but it was there. With the Y, much better high end (5000+ RPM). Now with the Frankencar, slightly louder with the odd AC noise issue (see my other post on the 4th gen forum)
