Is this possible....or am I just a crack head?

I dont know if I sound dumb saying this or not, but my '95 GXE auto with the only performance mod at the moment being my hybird intake, it feels faster than our '00 SE auto. I know the 5th gen has about 20 or so more hp than I do right now, but thats what I think. Could I be right? I cant go to a track to prove it cause we dont have one here... Anyways, I just wanted to see how crazy I might be.

Excluding the '02+ Maximas, many have said that the 95-96 4th Gens are the fastest around....the '00 is a bit heavier than the 4th gens, that will make a difference in how fast it is...

you're correct my friend, 00's maximas are heavier by about 200lbs I believe and only have 30 more hp, so the intake itself gives you at around 10hp, which is enough for you to feel the difference

you're right, your 95 gxe is definitely faster.
i saw a race with a 99+jwt and 2 stock 01's (227hp)
and the 99 beat both of them.
all cars were auto

COOL! this is very exciting to hear, I was beginning to think it was just my imagination, or that the powerful sound of the intake was making me feel faster. thanks everyone!

Oh boy lets not rehash this arguement... Some say the 95-96 are the fastest, but its not a definitive difference in anything, not enough to be acknowledged. If I'm not mistaken, the fastest stock Maxima was a 97 SE.

i have a 95 and my dads 2000 feels 50x faster than mine, his car feels faster and quicker pick up, mine feels slow as sh*t compared to his car, when I drive that car i love to abuse it because it feels so much faster than mine,

Or maybe I'm cracked out in the head ,
maybe its because its not my car so I just abuse it alot more than mine

Maximas on Diet

Ever heard of the saying, "depends on driver??"

That means, among many things, how big and heavy you are...plus the garbage you carry in your car.

Ever seen the jockeys...and wonder why they are so thinnnn and shorty?

So next time you wonder how much sugar you wanna put in that coffee, please...use only Fake Sugar like naturasweet or equal.

maybe it's just a mental thing...because you think it has more power must be faster....maybe because it's newer it feels like it drives smoother...maybe you need your throttle body and other stuff cleaned? race your dad and let us know how it goes!

No argument here...just the facts:

95/96 and 97/99 have the SAME ENGINE
95/96 weighs LESS than 97/99s because the 97/99s have more structural steel.

same power + less weight = faster car.

Interesting... I had not heard of this before. Is the frame just better reinforced or something?

From what I've read, the 97/99s have steel re-inforced doors...
Whereas, the 95/96s do not...

Not sure if there is more to it...but, that's what I know.

I just fully tuned my car few months ago, I'm gonna try n clean throttle body this week , i was thinking it slow b/c it has 113,000K
and maybe the engine lost some power

SURE I'm gonna race my dad so when he see's me beating the **** out of my car he will have something else to ***** about with me ,"what u buy the car for to f*ck around"

Thats why i just beat his car behind his back

Yes, Justin, you are certainly on crack. Perhaps its time to race. I am also in the 14051 area, and I have to teach you rice boys a lesson. Your car cant stand up to the sheer accelerative forces exerted by my Ford Aspire. Your rice-go-slo...
just kidding. Doesnt your mothers car weigh more and have more options? Could it be that the combination of these factors is giving you a slight advantage? I really dont know for sure, but it certainly looks as though the 4th gen is smaller than the 5th. But I dont know at all. Just talk.
