How could the price be half of what the other companies want????
Can someone explain what's the catch?

The catch is CANADIAN DOLLARS!

It's 250 Canadian. So for you americans, it's dirt cheap!

The retail price on Budget's website is 250.00 in Canadian dollars...which is about $158US. Gotta love the strong US dollar.

I hope it's true, hope that it's the only catch, and hope this deal goes thru any minute now.

From the research I've done... there aren't as many 5th gen's with the Budget Y-pipe as there are 4th gens. But if you do a search... I think you'll find that the 4th gen guys that DO have a Budget Y-pipe swear by it. I think Jime is one of them. He seems to dig it.

I have a 5th Gen (2000) with the Budget y-pipe.
I can't say how great it is because I'm having problems with my car (I think it's the ignition coil TSB) or whatever. I'm probably going to take it in today. Feels like I'm driving a 4 cylinder. No power whatsoever. I dynoed it on Monday and got 155 hp at the wheels. And it's gotten worse since Monday...sigh...I'm probably down to 140 and dropping...

As for the pipe..well, it looks and sounds nice

When I emailed them on Tuesday, a person named Jody replied saying that the techs are on a holiday break until tomorrow, so we probably won't hear from them until next week.

5th Gen Budget Y Dyno

Here are my dyno graphs with a Budget Y-pipe for the 2001 cali-spec maxima:

1) this one was done in 2nd Gear and is a comparison with a 2nd Gear Stock dyno run of the same car (mine)

2nd Gear y-pipe/berk intake vs. 2nd Gear Stock

2) this graph is a comparison between the 2nd Gear y-pipe/berk intake with a 3rd Gear Stock dyno

2nd Gear y-pipe/berk intake vs. 3rd Gear Stock

I wasn't able to get a 3rd Gear dyno (my car is an autotragic) with the y-pipe/intake but, as you can see, the gains are there and for $250CAN you can't go wrong

thanks. I have a small understanding of dyno-graphs. Is there a FAQ that explains how to read them?

One of the other sweet things about the Budget pipe is that they pay for the shipping! How do they do it?

be patient. Email courtesy dictates that you should expect to wait up to 24 hours for a reply.

I've been there in person to get my y-pipe and they're not huge but they're decent people. (I don't think email and stuff is their main communication protocol)
What did you ask them in your email? Have you tried calling now that Canadian thanksgiving is over?

I just called Budget, and they said that Jody, is the person to talk to (but not until Monday) and that they are still making them. You can't beat that, so I think I'm gonna save myself over $100 and wait till next week.

Re: 5th Gen Budget Y Dyno

Those are amazing gains. Since you're a cali-spec, did you have to leave the forward precat on as well? I recently canceled my order with budget because I didn't think I'd see much gain elimanating 1 precat only. I drive a 99 4th gen cali-spec.

A guy here in Toronto is thinking of driving over to get one done for his 2002. If he does it, he'll be the first and they'll have one available for 2002 afterwards. (For example, I was the first one for a 2000 fed spec so they made one just for mine and another for future orders).

No GD for Budget Y-pipe

Just got this response this AM from Jody...

Hi
Budget Exhaust no longer has group deals. I have lowered my price already to $250. approx $160 US Also we pay all shipping costs. I find thats already a deal. We do have some Cali Spec. If you would like to order I take shipping info by e-mail only. I will take your credit info over the phone. We send the Y pipe by ground so it takes approx 4 days.
Jody

There may be no GD, but $160 SHIPPED is still a good deal..not sure about the email ordering though.
Anyone out there with the Budget Y pipe that ordered via email? I know Axel and MajesticBlue are in Canada so they probably went there personally to get theirs...anyone???

why don't they do group deals. What's better: selling 2 or 3 for $160 or selling 10 for $150!!!

True but where else will you get a y-pipe for 160 shipped?
Do you really think 7-8 people WON'T get the y-pipe for a 10 dollar difference? As I stated in one of my posts earlier in this thread, the 250 canadian is already a reduced price. I'm not defending them (I have no financial interest whether people order from them or not) but I can understand them not wanting to go any lower. It's already a lot lower than the competition.
As for sending your address via email, I can also understand that. It's probably better for organization, less likely to have mistakes and it's easier to keep track.
And yes, I went on site and so did MajesticBlueNTO as we're close to their shop. I'm thinking of getting a b-pipe from them once my car is fixed.
