Greddy turbo kit...

This is a new idea I had on the way up to the Nissan dealer today...and was thinking. How about instead of putting these huge T5/T6 turbos on the VQ30DE, why not go with a T3 or T3/T4 hybrid turbo and the piping would have more room, while the compression ration is still a hurdle, we should as a group contact Greddy and petition them to built a kit that includes a thicker metal head gasket (copper etc.) and the other essentials needed. I have many friends with the honda 1.6L kit and they have over 70k miles on it ands still running! Does anyone feel like doing this? I have been quoted custom kits but, how many people have the $4k plus it costs? This would be the answer to the many of the Maxima owners out there, and if your interested post your thoughts on this matter and let's try to get Greddy to listen all of the 95+ owners that also would rather go turbo. Post your (all) thoughts/opinions in detail.

The kit I will be starting for this petition will include: Head gasket, Piping, T3 (fast spool) turbine, Greddy exhaust manifold(s), Intercooler, Blow-off valve, but injectors are still up in the air and will remain in this grey-area state until I and/or we can get more replies to this thread. The main objective if this petition will be to balance the market for turbo kits for our Maxima platform and as equally committed to recieving a high-durability turbo kit that will last. I have seen too many cars' hoods fly in the air because of either: A. Overboost B. Bad Piping C. Blown head and/or head gasket. So, if your share this common goal to avoid these cituations, then reply to this thread and spread the word about his thread or just to people your know off the net, and post for them! More people we can gain on the petition, the better the kit will be mainly due to the increase in volume of Greddy's profit (not mine what so ever). I am not here to make 1 cent off of this at all, I am more interested in seeing a larger market for Maxima products (especially turbos/turbo kits)!!!

I think thats a great Idea, I do agree that there needs to be more options of boost, another turbo on the market for Maximas would be a great addition.

Who wants to rip the motor apart to install head gaskets? Installation on that alone will cost you a bundle.

Why Greddy? They dont have any experience tuning the VQ30. The members here that are developing turbo kits are doing so pretty quickly and, in the grand scheme of things, pretty cheaply.

Do you really think that Greddy would get a turbo kit on the market (a market as small as ours, by the way) for less than $4500.

I don't.

Good point, greddy would probably charge alot becuase theres not a huge market for Maximas in the first place...

But, it would still be nice for more option of boost...

two turbo charger kits and 1 super charger kit and you want more options?

i mean the RSX has about 4 options and they had mods before the first car was ever sold.. i think 3 boost kits is a pretty good thing for a maxima.. i mean come on. .its a maxima

Ok then, well if this is the only response you can come up with man, well then your opinion is bias. Two turbo kits? and you all are satisfied with that? Could you plese note what these kits actually include and/or how much hp/tq they yield. Also, another thing: who is the company making these kits? Not being a ***** or anything, but I thought I sad before hand we would be DISCUSSING the options for this kit. Thanks all.

The kits come with everything any other kit would come with. Sure it would be nice to have another option, but a large company like greddy wouldn't bother producing a kit for such a small market as the Maxima. One uses a T3/T04e and one uses a straight T04e. Power production? More than anyone could ever need. How's 380hp at the wheels on 11psi sound?

Nice one, (the kit) now I was more interested in pricing issues brother. Is there a kit with a T3 turbine and such? Doubt it. I mean why is there a need to boost with a hyrbrid turbo? I would much rather have the quick spool feature to compliment the Maxima's broad power band. VTEC is great with T3/T4 hybrids, but personally I would much rather have a quick spool turbo that would leave the rest in lag still. Could you also gimmie some links? I mean I was just trying to help out everyone interested in boost, but I might be too late in getting Greddy to agree to anything due to lack of interest. You know what they say: " Can;t beat em' join em' " ha ha. Seriuosly though drop some info and some links so I can boost my Maxima soon!!!!

Greddy actually makes good turbo kits that are extremly reliable and durable and will out last the engine in most cases. This is from the fact that I have many friends that own these kits for preludes and civics and they perform as if in mint condition still. Greddy is one of the most respected aftermarket companines out there and if can name one good "all Nissan" aftermarket dealer than show me. Also, I still haven't even seen prices for these other brand turbo kits. Drop the info and this discussion will continue in reference to turbo kits in general as well as the proposed Greddy kit.
