Rims and Snow

What do you guys do with your rims during the winter months.

Do you just remove them??

Leave them on???

Use a special product to protect the finish????

Just wondering, this is my first winter with my rims.

Thanks

My 17's are coming off in 2 weeks, the stock 16" 5 spokes go back on AND the 4x4 springs go back in as well for winter. It's like I'll drive a new car out of the shop that day.

I want a nice comfy ride while it's miserable outside.

Best bet is just taking them off. Thats what I think is kinda funny when you see really done up carsduring the winter. Especially Honda's. I mean kids in my city will have crazy body kits wings rims etc during the summer then once this happens you see crazy rides with the crappy little 14's stock or the fake rims that go over hubcaps hehe it just looks funny to me.

I have the same rims and everything, but I think mine are 18x8. I should be changing back this weekend. Anyhoo, just put the caps back on and put you're stock rims back on. What's the problem?

well actually it's the dust caps that are on the rear rotors.. i knocked them off with a hammer so i can fit my konig tantrums 18x7.5... everyone with konig tantrums 18x7.5 has the same problem.. so i'm wonderin' if we CAN ACTUALLY put the stocks back on without any problem... i have not tried to fit the stocks back on since my rims.. but im askin' in advance to know what to do...

are you talking about the metal sheet behind the rotors? because i don't understand why something would prevent you from putting stock wheels back on unless you changed to a 4lug hub or something.

actually they are called dustcaps.. they are the only THING that sticks out far after you take the wheels off.. it was in the way of my tantrums.. so i knocked them off and then the tantrums could fit... other members i recall also took it off.. now i'm wonderin' if i can put my stocks back in without the dustcap or... if i can buy dustcaps for a good price... and put them back in... and how would i put them back in

I just pryed my dustcaps off with a screwdriver and put them in a bag with my factory lugnuts. When I change back I will just press the dustcaps back on and slap the 16’s over them. I don’t anticipate any problems. You didn't damage your dustcaps when you took them off did you?
Even if you put the stockers on without the dustcaps you shouldn't have any major problems, just the possibility that your wheel bearings' life may be shortened slightly. After all, you've been running your tantrums without the caps.

The caps keep dirt out of the wheel bearing grease. Without it, you'll be changing wheel bearings regularly.

Go to Nissan and purchase a couple new dust caps if yours are no longer functional. They should be fairly inexpensive.

Good Luck.
