Help!! She Acts Up During Startup~~~~

This started about a month ago. After the car just gets started it makes a loud noise for about a second. The sound is just like the sound you would hear if you keep turning the key after you started the engine. At first I thought it only made this sound when the car was cold but I noticed it is just random. Sometimes it would make the sound when the car is still kind of warm, some times when its cold after leaving it overnight. And sometimes it wont make that noise. This morning when I attempted to start the car, I felt the car shake a few times before it actually cranked up and the started and the sound again. The car runs fine after the startup though. Anyone have any ideas as to what might be wrong?

A lot of us have the same problem. There is a thread somewhere on the board that goes into greater discussion. It could be a number of things and I don't have a specific answer.

Is it definately the starter? What about the vibration I felt this morning?

Don't worry about it. Fix your starter first.

A lot of times one bad part like this can make others act worse. So many times if you fix the root problem the others go away with it.

I started the car this morning and the terrible sound was gone however it was still hard to start. It was like "chug chug" before it started. What could be the problem? It just seemed like it was haveing trouble cranking over. This only happenes in the morning or after the car hasnt been touched for a long time. There is no problems when the car is warm or semi-warm and I try to start the car.

your probably not turning it over for long enough when it is cold, I have the same problem if I let of the key to early, the car will shudder and then I have to turn it over longer for it to start.
