JL Audio 250/1 or 300/2...which to get?

I'm looking at buying a new amp to power my Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1 and I've decided to go for a JL Audio amp. However I'm not sure if I should get the 250/1 or the 300/2 amp? Which of these should I get and why?

Also, are there any good sites on the net where I can buy JL amps for a good price, instead of through ebay? Thanks,

Nathan

I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that the 250/1 is a Class D and the 300/2 is a Class A/B. If you want to power subs I would get the 250/1.

go with the 500/1 500 X 1. It will be more effecient on your sub. You'll have to max out the 250/1 on the 12.

JL doesn't sell their products on line. If you have a Tweeter store near you I can hook you up

Thanks for the input guys. The only problem is that Im located in Toronto, Canada so we dont have any Tweeter stores up here. Are you able to ship them north of the border and if so how much for either the 250/1 or the 500/1? At the moment Im not sure if I can afford the 500/1 but I'll see.

Thanks for the input guys. The only problem is that I live in Toronto, Canada and we dont have Tweeter stores here. Shipping and duties is also a problem. Dave, are you able to ship amps north of the border and if so how much can you get a 500/1 or a 250/1 amp? At the moment I'm not sure if I can afford the 500/1 but I'll see.

Just an FYI, I bought a brand new 500/1 with warranty from a dealer for $400. US
That amp hits hard, but it does get a little warm for a CLASS D amp. Otherwise AWESOME amp.

I was looking on line and they sell them at Online Car Stereo

500/1 = $419
250/1 = $309

JL Audio says that they don't warrantee anything not sold from a dealer. I called Online Car Stereo and they said they offer a 1 year warrantee direct from them. I have never purchased anything through them, so you might want to search the board to see if anyone has an opinion. However, these are very good prices from what I've seen around. If you do buy from them, let us know how it worked out!

I agree with the above posts, stick with these 2 class D amps.

I personally would not buy of, off the internet because of warranty issues. I would however take the prices into the store to see if they can meet or beat the price.
