engine so loud when its cold, any reason?

when i first start my car everyday the engine is really loud , it sounds like loud fans, clicking noises, i opened the engine to see if anythings wrong but did not notice anything

then when the car reaches normal operating temperature the car seems alot less noisy
My car always starts off loud in the beggining then when it warms up its not that loud

is this any cause of alarm for my car, should i be worrying about this, my cars 95 with 115k, i figure maybe beacuse the engines getting old, maybe its gonna die soon

anyone else experience this with their max

thanks

maybe you have exhaust or head gasket leaking? and as the engine warms up, the metal expands and seals up the leak

You will notice at first during warmup that your sitting at like a 1.3K to 1.5K idle. Once you warm up your at like 600 rpm or around there. Thats why your engine sounds twice as loud.

Exactly. Any car is going to run a richer fuel mixture and be at higher RPMs for a couple minutes on a cold day at startup. Your car probably shoots to 1400-1500 RPM right away and takes a minute or two to get around 1000, and eventually gets down near 650-700. That is perfectly normal and is no reason for concern.
