alright so this guy has a 97 maxima 5 speed that he totalled but the transmission and EVERYTHING that comes with the 5 speed is still in good condition. When I say everything I mean from the clutch and flywheel to nuts/bolts and even the console piece. He wants 900$ for all that and then install would be 800$. There is no way I would even attempt it by myself. So anyway I was just wondering what you guys think that I should do. What kind of performance gains have people noticed who have done this swap? Thanks.
that's a great price for someone that doesn't have a major hook up. Installs normally go between 700 to up to 1500.
the trans alone would have ran u about 650+ shipping depending on mileage at best not to mention axles and other parts. I say go for it.
i paid 2400 for my whole setup on my old car although i got mostly all new parts.

With your mods and good driving, you would be solidly in the 14's. Check the 1/4 mile forum for what others have run with a 5spd with mods similar to yours. I would guess mid/high-14's.
Yea, but it's not the performance gains you should be concerned about. It's the overall enjoyment of getting to pick when you want to go fast, exactly how fast, and all those good things
If you've got the cash, I guess go for it. I wouldn't do something expensive like that on a max, but you've already invested quite a bit, so might as well keep the project going (if yer plannin on keepin the car for a couple years or more). That does seem like a good price. Got a trustworthy mechanic?

I know you said the clutch was good etc, but I would reccomend sticking in a new ACT clutch anyhow. This will save you alot more down the road. This way you only have to pay to have it installed once instead of the old clutch going on you one day then paying another 800 for a clutch swap. Much cheaper to spend 300 or so now than an extra 800 or so later.

sound like an awesome deal man DEF go for it. I was quoted at $750 for labor and whatever I can get the parts for. I was told I am looking at just under 2k on my 5 speed conversion so you are making out very well. Just make sure you have ALL the parts.
