just a question on what causes a knock sescor to go bad

i read a lot about knock sensors but never read a thread on what causes these to go bad?

Time, whatever makes a piezoelectric sensor go bad, bad upbringing, hanging around the wrong kids when young, drugs, too many scary movies etc.

You can make em go bad by dropping them, and it doesn't have to be a hard drop

Exposure to heat and vibration over time takes it's toll on the sensor. It is located deep in the V of the engine, it's not going to get much nastier than that.
