Proven Results of the infamous "EBAY ELECTRONIC TURBO's"
Hey,
I was talking to an old high school buddy last night, and he was telling me about his celica, and what he has done to it...etc, and he mentioned those ebay turbo chargers (the one's that regularly sell for around 30 bucks), and I went on telling him that he wasted his money...etc, etc, but he did somethin pretty cool with them, that he claims dyno'd him, now I forgot what he said, but it was something like 40hp, he could have said 20 though...
He created a manifold for the turbos, meaning, he took 3 of them, mounted one tube in the rear, that connected all three of them, and ran it up to where he has his aftermarket Injen intake (which he raves about, btw). The three electronic blowers are mounted in the front of his car somehow, I would assume in an able position to "soak up" lots of wind and cold air from outside the car. NOW, I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS, MIND YOU, but he is a very good friend, and claims to know what he was talking about. So when he hit the switch, he claims a huge HP gain, claiming that it takes an enormous amount of cold/fresh air from outside the engine bay and forces it to surround the intake.
Obviously I couldn't argue with him, because I wasn't there to see it, and it was quite hard to imagine exactly what he was talking about, but what are people's thoughts and opinions on this? Could it be possible? Don't flame just for the sake of flaming, or because you have something against these cheap, crappy blowers, as I would never use them, as I am getting a "real" turbo, but I just thought it was interesting conversation. Let me know what you think.

i'm not gonna flame or call bs...but me, like most members on here, don't believe things until we see proof. if he's a good friend, he won't mind showing you so you can take pictures. ask him to see proof of the dyno too...i'm not calling your friend a liar but we all know people who tend to embelish or make up stories bigtime...
Jepht, you're absoluetly right, like I said, I have not seen the results/setup and have no difinitive proof that it works. I'm sure tha the has it on his car, but as far as the results, I suppose he could "THINK" that he would give him extra HP, or feel like it, but I'll definetly ask him if he can get some pictures of it over, or dyno results...But until then, what do you think about the sound of it? I guess it would make sense, as it is surrounding the intake with cooler air then would otherwise be there, and it creates more cold air within the cabin, but would the inake suck it in any faster? Would this setup work overall? Just making conversation
those electric fans are horrible as vacuums...if you want proof, stick your hand over the intake side. If they were usefull, your hand would get sucked through. But since they don't create vacuum, your hand stays safe.
Anyways...i'm just saying, you really can't charge or force more air than a free-flow intake.

Now that these ebay turbo and electric supercharger kits are out in force, there's a reason that *real* supercharger kit prices are still at $4000 and haven't budged even an inch to "compete" with these electric thingamabob's.
Here are some **REAL** dyno tested results from this guy that put one of these POS's on his Mustang GT

As you can see, you really do get what you pay for. Or maybe in this case, *don't* get. The rule still stands. You gotta pay to play
