Hyperground Wires add 11.6 HP Dyno
Hyperground Wires add 11.6 HP Dyno
Hey everyone, I just got the new Import Tuner the one with the Skyline on the cover. That had a whole article on Hyperground Wires. They tested it on 4 cars. A RX-7, S2000, some other car and a 97 Maxima. They Maxima was 2nd place in added gains. The 11.6 hp is at 4500 rpm everything under that is 2 or 3 hp. At 5 rpm it drops to 9 hp and at 6500 it drops to 6 hp. Or something like that. Torque even raises too doesn't ever drop under stock torque. But Kevin Wong is having another Group Deal. I suggest everyone to get them. I just ordered mine.

Re: Hyperground Wires add 11.6 HP Dyno
How was the comparison done between the Hypergrounds and stock? If they didn't fully clean all the stock grounding points, then the power gains could be solely due to the fact that new clean grounds were added.
I won't buy in to any of these ground wire kit gains until I see that sort of data. Even if I see it, hell it's sooooooo easy to make your own custom ground wire kit. Like $30 tops.

That's what I was thinking when I first saw these wires. I thought, can't I just buy some really nice Phoenix gold ground wire and put together a kit myself??? But I'm not sure exactly how this kit functions, but I definetly do not buy a 12hp gain due to a different ground...

Do a DYNO comparison of a brand-spankin' new stock MAX with zero miles against the same MAX but with the HyperGround wires. There will not be any difference at all. Why?, because after time the stock wires corrode and stuff and lose their conductivity. This is a waste of money...

Great, more Import Tuner bullsh!t
Now all the riceboyz are gonna be running around like mad ordering their 11.6 HP wires to go along with their 20 HP CAI, and 20 HP fart can exhaust.
I **HATE** these god-d@mned mags. They're more of a DIS-service to the import community than anything else!

The more information that's published, the more you have to sort through what is both good and bad. I regrounded my car the other day, but I haven't driven it around enough to have any real conclusions. Regardless, based on the physics of having more grounds and knowing that I replaced slightly corroded grounds something likely improved.

omg, there are so many threads talking about "upgrading ground wire." Those threads are hella good because they show pictures of every ground point in the maxima.
I did my "upgrading groundwire" ghetto style... meaning i didn't pay 100 bucks for a fancy pre-built kit. I went out and bought new terminals for the battery and a couple thick low-gauge wires and grounded it at every point. I did this w/ my frankencar intake mod so whatever it did.... i didn't know much difference because all this mod does is bring the ground points to how it was when it was brand new. Does my lights dim sometimes? YES it does, I did this mod because it was $20 and had too much time that day.

Super Street and Import Tuner is a bunch of garbage written by writers that know nothing about cars.... oh yea at least it's semi-**** tho.
Sports Compact Car is good... but they're gettin ricier... i'd have to say the most decent one is Grassroots Motorsports. Their cover is pretty gay but the content is hella good.
I don't know for sure that the wires give more power, but I do know that my friend, who is at a battle with gas mileage(which is why he bought these wires), gained 2 more MPG on his 2001 Frontier Crew Cab. It went from 18 to 20mpg with no other modifications.

Would anybody complain if a 5th gen did the mod and got some gains? or is a 5th gen not new enuf?

The reason why this system supposedly works is because it improves the efficiency of the spark plugs... forget the reason but it was in one of the posts made a while ago.

It would've cost Nissan Japan cents per car for slightly thicker wire or an extra ground yet they chose not to take a gain of 11 wheel hp? I'm sure the factory engineers could have convinced the beancounters to approve the spending on this one as it would've easily been the most effective cost vs result engineering on the whole car.
I can understand the kit returning previously lost performance but as for producing additional, add another skeptic.

buncha haters on this board who talk about stuff they've never tried.
i'm putting my foot down to say that my JetChip Vforce works to the same degree as my hypergrounds (roughly 15hp) on my bro's 2k Max w/mods. The car's still pretty new and the gains were easily felt by my butt dyno (and others who have ridden in the car)

we're not haters man, i've upgraded the ground wires and most of my terminals were pretty clean anyways and felt no difference.... at least NOT FREAKIN 11+ HP!
