Nitrous Tuning
Nitrous Tuning
I took my car for the first time spraying last night.
My car has a hybrid intake (HAI) Y pipe, high flow cat, WSP B pipe and I'm running on ADR Kasai 18" rims.
I'm spraying a 70 shot at 800psi (no heater blanket yet).
My times were almost .5 seconds slower than when I don't spray normally. I usually run about 15.0 consistantly and have peaked in the 14's in the past. I was runing stock rims when I was hitting 14's, but I guess I expected better results from this n2o kit.
My fuel pressure was alway well about 70psi at WOT, I think I looked up at it and it was just above 70 maybe 73 or 75. What can I do to get more out of my n2o? I haven't done any retarding of timing or regaping of my plugs. Anyone with suggestions PLEASE help. I was also running 93 octane and close to empty tank of gas.

Man if you have all those mods, and nitrous, and you run a slower time than you're N/A times, something is wrong, my friend just has an intake and y pipe on an auto running a 70 shot with stock fuel and he hits 14.5, check that stuff out, was the bottle open>?????????????
I had similar problems with my kit:

I had purchased a used kit, and it turns out that the in-line nitrous filter was badly clogged. It was hard to find out, because the nossle was spraying, just not nearly enough. I would estimate I was getting the power of like a 20-shot or so.
72 or 73 is a good fuel pressure to start at. That's right around where I was, and the plugs seemed really happy. I think it was a tad rich, but I wanted it that way.
After I got things working I dropped a half a second in the quarter mile. Now, I didn't spray in first gear, and I screwed something up everytime (mis-shift, etc.). On my last run I got a 14.07. Turns out that the bottle started to run out after that. I started the run at 1000psi and ended at like 600psi. If I would have mannaged to drive well, 13's would have been a piece of cake.

Good luck!

Auto with nos
Mine is workin real good my bottle stays at around 950-1000 psi,(with heater) i have the high flow fuel pump & fuel pressure regulator. FP stays on mine close to 80 when it sprays. Is that good or bad? i dunno?? I'm runnin 1 step colder NGK's. I havnt ran at the track yet cause of the little quarks with the new tranny. I've done a bunch of runs and the plugs seem to be doin good no show of to rich or to lean i also have an egt gauge (which i cant seem to tell how i'm runnin to rich or to lean, still learning how to use it) and a autometer a/f meter. so far so good. Maxspeed- As my sigpic shows, I have ran mid 14's before. Thats why I'm so upset with this set up.
Ok I checked the filter, there were a few little particles but nothing I would consider a minor occlusion. I also re positioned the WOT switch to come on a little sooner. My first test drive threw me a little harder into my seat. I'm hoping tuning the bypass valve down will give me what I want... also I only have 800 psi.
I did notice some condensation around the solenoids and the bypass valve blue thingy that sits between the solenoids (brain fart).
Another observation my FP kicks up to 75 or so till I begin to spray for about 1,000 rpm (3k-4k) then it lowers into the 40's. The car doesn't seem to hesitate at all, should I continue to run this? The car usually runs around 30-32psi at idle and 42-43 at WOT normally aspirated. After I take the foot off the gas my FP bounces back up to 75 and hold for a few seconds then returns to a normal pressure.
I have my solenoids set up to open at the same time till I get a wire issue solved this week.
my last question is that when I shift into another gear the RPMS kind of hover and fade into the next gear. I'm assuming its my clutch slipping until the car come to speed/rpm. The clutch doesn't smell when doing this it just isn't as responsive.

Here's what I did...
Take the spray nossle out of the intake and turn the lower limit on your RPM switch (assuming you have one, which you should!) down to about 1500rpm's. Then, activate the system and start the car. With the nossle and line in one hand (with a glove on), hold the WOT switch down and rev the engine a bit with the other hand. Make sure it sprays, and look for leaks.

Have someone get in your car, (with it off) and floor it. Make sure that the WOT switch is fully depressed. It sounds to me like the system is shutting off quickly.

Well it still pulls really hard, even at the lower FP. I'm going to order a new Fuel Pump and hope that it helps regulate the pressure better. Also when I take my foot off the gas the FP jumps back up to 75psi. So I'm thinking (with others help) that there is some sort of either flow probelm or a weak Fuel Pump. I tested the lines last night by just depressing the WOT switch and lifting the accelerator to match the 3k trigger and I was getting spray, no white cloud though but it was getting awfully cold and frosting up.
