Where can the Tack Wire be??

What it is..

I put a remote start on my 97se and it works great. But, recently it's getting colder then $hit at night and the Max is being a pain trying to start on the first try with no manual help. Well, I didn't hook up my Tach Wire on the remote start when I put it in, because it usually has no trouble at all starting. So, does anyone know how I can find my Tack Wire under the dash? I've read the instructions and something from the Nissan dealer, but it's like looking for a needle in a hay stack.. Anyone know the color scheme of it?

The tach wire is located at the ECM near the transmission hump on the passenger's side. It's white with a green tracer. This wire MUST be tapped into when remote starting. That's why you're having so many problems. The tach wire controls your RPM's when remote starting. It helps keeps the car at idle. If I were you, I would not remote start your car anymore, until this wire is hooked up. Otherwise, you may run into other problems, such as ignition problems.

Wow, that is exactly what I was hoping to hear, but it sounds complicated..

How do I get to it? What do I have to remove? Sorry, but what is ECM too?

What is the name of the manufactuer who makes your remote starter. I know DEI has a control module on theirs to set a cylinder setting when tapping into the tach. Does yours? What does your instructions actually say when tapping into the tach.?

I'll check for you! I'll do it first thing tonight when I get home. So, I'll be about an hour.. All I know, is the unit itself came from Target I know, it's not the best, but it works.. I'll get back to you in about 30 mins..

Ok.. This is what I got. Its a Design Tech International model, I believe they call it an AutoCommand. Now, it works and everything so most of the crap is already done.

Its telling me that I need to hook up my tack (which is optional, well not anymore) to the AT ENGINE CONTROL MODULE and it says the wire to tap into is WHITE/GREEN - here's a link to the page that tells me this..

http://www.designtech-intl.com/conte...l?modelID=1046

Oh yeah, it says that my ECM is behind my center console?!?! I don't really want to beleive anything they say, but are they right?

I gotta say though, every wire that they say is the one I need has been wrong, way wrong! Except for the constant or something..
