Well its official - RT Cats suck

Brand new....less than 2k miles. Never sprayed nitrous with it. The foward core section (RT has 2 core sections, one towards the front of the cat one towards the back leaving the center hollow for that BS high flow crap) disbonded from the casing. Rattling like a ****. I took it out...drilled out the old rusted studs and cleaned my old oem cat and reinstalled it.

I noticed no power loss either.....and a tad bit quieter.

Now to get my $180 bucks back.......

Plus the oem one naturally fits better. The RT one has these stupid flanges that rotate......and there is no flat sealing surface.......spent 2 days getting rid of leaks.....(this is the RT cat you get from Opt Auto) I realize that you can have the proper flanges welded on. Glad I didnt waste the money on that!

Edit....I paid $197

Save your 100 and get the carsound. Have the proper flanges welded on. Or better yet just keep the stock one. Mine seems fine now. I truly feel no loss of power without the rt one.

I never had a problem with my RT, but most people seem to. I guess I got lucky.

I'm not sure...........Others have had problems as well. Who knows.
I was just letting people know my experience. I will either keep the stock one one.....or get a test pipe. More than likely a test pipe since I'll start spraying soon once I mount and connect the zex module.

I'll get a carsound one next time around tho.

i really think the rt cat is a waste of money...never have i seen it provide a sufficient gain if any at all...especially for boosted cars. I just don't get it, whats the point...can't you take your OEM cat and just rattle the hell outta it and have it be unrestrictive but even that doesn't help much either. There are many other things i would spend my $$ on first before an aftermarket Cat.

Well said. After RT Cat, Straight Pipe, Warpspeed Metallic Cat, I am going back to OEM. Go figure!!
