Magic Brake Fluid???

I have a slight problem here I need others info on this. About 3 months ago I heard my brakes grinding so I bought a new set of front pads and rotors. While changeing the pads I didnt know that the bolts on the caliber bracket are reverse instead of lefty loosey righty tighty its reverse. So my dum a$$ snaped it off. I couldnt get the bolt out to just replace the bolt I had to buy the whole bracket. So I did and of course I had to disconnect the brake line to do so. Now I got the brakes on and everything works great now 3 months later, I need to refill my brake fluild once a week. I took my car to the shop they checked if for leaks and couldnt find any. I dont understand this there has to be a leak somewhere. Any ideas on this I give up I have tried almost everything.

Your right, there has to be a leak. Brake fluid doesnt evaporate under normal conditions. I am sure you have looked at the master cylinder, right?

DO you have drums in the back. LEaky brake cylinders hide themselves well. The back brakes don't do a whole lot of work, so you might not notice a loss in performance unless you drive hard. Take off a wheel, pull e the drum and take a peak. Also, when the master reservoir gets low, can you tell which section of the res is low. I believe the rear and the front are separated, but I might be mistaken. An easy check is to get under the car and have a friend pump the brakes..if it's leaking, you'll see it.

also check the master cylinder.. they have a habit of leaking inside the vacuum canister so that you don't see the fluid leaking anywhere.

BTW.. NONE of the brake parts on our car are left-hand thread. I've pulled them apart at least 50 times and I know none of them are backwards...

Maybe it's because the heads of the bolts are facing away from you, toward the inside of the car. I have gotten confused before too, never to the point of snapping the heads off though! They are definatlely not reverse thread, just the opposite of what most people are used to working on. Good call on the brake booster.

yup, exactly...

I've spent a few minutes whacking on a wrench with a hammer before I realized I was looking at it backwards.. fortunately I never broke a bolt tho.

Re: Magic Brake Fluid???

Im not sure how the Max is setup with drums in the back, but in my old car I had the EXACT same problem. I had to refill every 2 days. SO i took the drums off and noticed the piston O-ring was shot. And thats where the leak was. Thing is, I never noticed it cuz when it leaked out, it would spin around in the tire, covering the inside pretty good. And since it was pretty dirty to begin with, I never noticed.

just ramblin
