need help want a performance muffler any suggestions???

I have been in the market looking for a performance muffler, but I am not a huge fan of the loud pipes that I hear. I do not mind the sound but I do not want anything very loud. I have heard that you can get mufflers and put silencers in them. I want to have the dual look, but I want to have the power increase without all of the noise. I would like to have my system heard and not my muffler if possiible.

Any suggestions would be great! I would like to get this done while I have the money.

thanks
Deon

welcome to the org.

The thing is,
a muffler by itself will not give you more power, only more noise...
most aftermarket mufflers are loud, your best bet is to weld a nice muffler tip onto your factory muffler or you can actually shop around for a quiet muffler but I highly doubt you'll have any luck locating one that is as quiet as stock.

Man have I got the perfect muffler for you ! REMUS!!! I have the Remus muffler (pic of it on my homepage) and the sound is deep and not annoyingly loud. I love the deep sound not like the bees in a can sound! But the muffler is expensive. I paid a little over $500 for mine back in 1998 and its just the muffler. I will be adding a custom cat-back next year. Just my .02 cents work.

get a y-pipe first. that will give the biggest gain in power exhaust wise. It's not too expensive and no-one will even know you have.
www.warpspeedperformance.com is where you can get them. Also get a carsound cat while you're at it. They're pretty easy to install.

Just a muffler isn't going to give you any power (maybe a few HP). You won't see any big gains until you do the whole exhaust or a y-pipe. You might want to check out WSP like Lophix mentioned. You can get a full stainless steel exhaust and CAI, which would give a very good HP increase.

You paid over $500 for just a muffler?

I thought they had a full catback for the 3rd gen?

Remus is VERY expensive (germans... i think). I LOVE the sound of it. Also I bought it back in 98' when cat back wasnt that big back then also stillen has the Remus muffler for $525. I know its crazy but you pay for what you get...i guess
