I need your help confirming a shifter bushing problem....

Here is my issue with my automatic transmission shifter on my 94:

A few weeks back, I was shifting from Park to Neutral as usual, when it sounded like I "broke" some plastic underneath the shifter. Ever since then, I've noticed the following:

Sporadic difficulty shifting from Park to Reverse

Shift lock not being engaged properly, even though I placed vehicle in Park the night before and the key came out without issue; resolving this by jiggling the shifter in the Park position until I hear the familiar "click" of the shift interlock allowing me to move shifter in Reverse

Sporadic "breaking" plastic sound when going from Park to Reverse or even when going from Drive back up to Reverse or Park.

No other driveability issues are experienced. Transmission acts normally and shifts smoothly. Problem seems to lie in the shifter mechanics itself.

My research here seems to indicate the 2 shifter bushings need replacement, does this sound right?. I've found the part numbers and install procedure already.

sounds exactly like the bushing problem although the plastic breaking sound worries me. I didn't have that.

Kind of hard to describe. Maybe plastic rubbing is more accurate, but is accompanied by the shifter being quite difficult to move, as if the shifter button wasn't depressed at all and you were trying to move the shifter into another gear.

Heck, for $3 or so it won't hurt to change them out and go from there.
