Kenwood X859 doesn't fit??? HELP!!

Hey all. I just installed my new Kenwood X859 receiver in my 5th gen and it doesn't seem to fit the Scoche adapter. I previously had a Pioneer 9400 (loaner) which fit ok, but the Kenwood screw holes force me to put the unit facing downwards creating a large gap at the front of the dash mount adapter. I've never had this problem before so I wanted to see if anyone had this unit installed in their Max.

Also, does anyone have any mounting ideas for the IR "eye" on the PAC SWI-X? I've heard of people mounting it on the console or behind the rear view mirror but I'm not sure how to run the wire to do that?

Any help would be appricated, I've been messing with this stereo all through Thankgiving and had hot dogs for dinner

I have the X659 in my 98 max, and the installer told me he had to drill some new mounting holes to get the unit to go in "flush". I know it's possible for your unit to fit correctly, hope this helps.

Do you mean drill into the factory bracket? If so, yes that is very helpful!

So it seems that the holes on the Kenwoods are different than the other stereos. I'm gonna call them today and yell at them

Thanks again for your help!
