The word "best" is very vague. Are you looking for volume, SQ, ect.

I'll go ahead and throw something in there for starters though. How about 2-Image Dynamic IDQ10 V2 D4 subs and 1-US Acoustics USX2150 amp. All can be had for about $500 from places such as sounddomain.com and elsewhere probably even cheeper. There are plenty of good combos out there in that range (I'm sure all the Adire fans will chime in about the Shiva).

The setup I mentioned before would be good for SQ. The best deal I know of right now for true sq subs, is the CDT Audio Minibox 10's at The Zeb . They only need about 150W RMS a piece which makes your amp purchase cheep too. A pair of those with the USAcoustics Usx-2150 would only run you about $325. That leaves you with plenty left over.

2 12inch kappas perfects would hit very hard, and sound nice and clean, just break them in before you make them pound and you're all good, and they'll play decent on a POS amp too if you insist on skimping there. you can get two for under 4 and under 3 or you may not even need 2 12's if you get the right sub. One 12 inch brahma would make you very happy! Best bet, got his a car audio shop see what you like then buy it online!

Brahma is a model made by Adire Audio. They can only be bought from Ampman.com or the adire website. They run just under $400 a piece and need a good bit of power. A decent amp and a Brahma will put you way over $500, but the Adire Shiva (which I mentioned in my first post) might be worth looking into.

I just wanted to know where do you plan on going to purchase your stuff, cause i could recomend some stuff but you can only find them over the net. Is that ok with you or do you prefer going to a store/shop. Only advice i really can give is advice that i once got. Pay close attention to what kind of amp you get because a good amp can make almost any sub sound good, but a crappy amp will make almost every sub sound bad.

In my opinion definitely, a SINGLE 12 is like 385 shipped. Then you would need a rather large amp to run it you would probaly want around 450 watts rms out of a GOOD amp, so you would probbably go over your $500 limit when you toss in the amp, but if you search around you should be able to keep it under 600. plus through ampman it looks like you could even finance the purchase of the brahma if you have a CC. And like bahmax said you could definitely check out Shiva, which is much cheaper, a few people on here have them and are quite happy with them

Alpine

Get an Alpine MRD-M500 for like $325 at a Alpine dealer and get the Alpine Type R sub SWR 1241D for like $125. Very nice SQ and it hits. MRD-M500 is very underrated. I have the 1241D wired at a 2 ohm load. The amp has gotten rave reviews. My 2 cents.

i like compvr's for a nice budget system, they have great sq and get pretty loud in sealed encosures. You can get 10's for about 59 apiece and 12's for a about 10 bucks more. I recommend looking at ikesound.com and look at the jbl amps. their monoblock amps are nice and put out lots of power. 1200 watts for 285, can't beat that.
My setup
2 12" VR's, 159 + shipping.
1 JBL 1200.1 285 shipped.
Box bout 80.
Hits really hard and has great sound quality.

12"s??

I would say go for the 2-10"s for your listening type. If you don't want the extra rumble and noise, why even get 12's? I had 10's and loved them. They were plenty, and much louder than my friend's 1'12" he had. 10's will also be much cleaner, which seems like you will want with that kind of music having many highs and mids. I listen to a lot or punk/ska, rock...and it even played nice with the rap/hip hop i listen to. Dance/house/techno was also clean with plenty of base. Of course, my subs cost $450 for the pair in the box, but you can get some thing cheaper that will still sound nice. to save money and get more bang, yeah you can get a 12." but I just dont think it will sound as nice as you want it to. I have even seen some sweet setups with 3-8"s that may save you some money if you aren't concerned about being too loud, but want to feel your music.

i see brahma mentioned, if i remember correctly they are 15's and go for like 400 bucks or something for 1 sub which is well worth it but out of your price range since u still looking for an amp....i would get two shiva subs and a nice amp...something with good real power...

I bought a single 12" Image Dynamics IDQ with a Crossfire VR402 amp... around 300$ somewhat used for the combo. I don't have them installed yet but I have heard an IDQ before and they sound great in my opinion.

I also considered a Kicker VR as well.. heard good things about them too and they fit my price range..
