Bose HU problems and replacement questions

I have been havng problems with my Bose stereo in my 91 SE. It started gradually turing off after a few minutes and then would not work at all. It would turn on for half a second and show either just the FM light or the station LCD and then turn back off. Every couple weeks or so it will work for around 45 minutes or all day and then repeat the cycle. I am not sure if it is a bad ground or if the HU is just going bad so I wanted to grab a newer Bose HU off ebay from a 4th gen maxima and put it in instead. I know the connections are different so I need to know if a) this stereo here will fit without a problem: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=1942803972 and b) what wiring harness I need to get with it. Also if anyone has a HU like the one on ebay for a good price let me know. Thanks

personally, i wouldn't bother trying to hook up new bose stuff. it died once already, why buy it again? radioshack, bestbuy and circut city all carry the unit you need called a DA converter that will drop the 45x4 4 ohm output of an aftermarket deck down to 1ohm preamp signal your bose amps need. as with everyone who has a 3rd gen bose and does it, i like my aftermarket stuff alot better than the factory. consider replacing everything at once and you wont have to buy the adapter.

Well a system that has failed after 13 years doesn't exactly turn me off to the brand. I really don't have the cash right now to put anything really great in the car so I can avoid paying a couple hundred for a new HU plus the adapter I would rather do that. Do Bose systems fail more often than any others?
