After market spoiler installation
After market spoiler installation
I'm planning on installing a spoiler on my 2K GLE in the next couple of weeks and would like to know from any of you that have put on an aftermarket spoiler if the added weight on the trunk lid was a problem and if it was how did you correct the problem? My lid stays open now but with the extra weight of the spoiler I believe it won't stay open by itself. Also when you hooked up the led brake light did you encounter any problems there?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

The weight of the spoiler is not much so you should not have any problems keeping the trunk lid open. As for the connection goes if you look on the inside (middle part)of the trunk lid you will see a connection all by itself(2 smallwires)Tap in to that and you shold be ready to roll.
Peace

It will stay open if you open it up all the way. It will close on you if you just open it up halfway.
Also, if you haven't purchased one yet, check out www.factorywings.com for a killer price.

The spoiler adds a lot of weight, and my trunk doesn't stay up unless you put it all the way up. Also, if you just let it drop it slams. My car didn't have any wiring in it for a spoiler, though it should have. The dealer who installed the spoiler had to get a wiring harness for it and do it that way. Mine's a 2k1.
people with aftermarket spoilers...well, i have one too...the spoiler itself isn't all that heavy..it's pretty light. but since we don't have the springs in the trunk to compensate for that extra weight, the trunk will slam shut if you let it go half way down. i think you can buy this 'spring' from your local Nissan dealership.
