i'm from sc too. I've seen better deals, I would offer $18,500. Really, she could find a better deal though. Where in SC are you?

That is about right. Black is a color dealers don't like so negotiate the deal down if possible. If the car is nice I would say 19K is a good price.

One piece of advice:Never pay what they are asking, they will go lower.

I got an Escalade (used) 6k cheaper than they had it priced at. The sales manager gave me the "we paid more than your offering" bull$hit, I walked out the door. Two hours later the sales manager calls me " OK lets do it".

Ask to talk to the sales manager to negotiate, the salesman can do nothing for you. Don't let the salesman come back with a "pencil back" saying this or that the sales manager will go for. Ask to talk directly to him/her.

Look under the car for rust, you never know where they get there cars from.

I've just gone thru an extensive search for a 2k - 2k3. You can buy 2k2's for under $19k right now. I think a 2k should be in the $15 to $16,00 range if it's in good shape.

Just my opinion of course.
