I want a little rice in my interior

I am wanting to install 2 blue neon tubes under the driver and passenger dash. I am just wondering if anybody has a how to connect these without using the cig inlet. They are the 15" blue street glow series. Thanks ahead Matt

You can hardwire them. I took apart the bottom part of the steering column and took a look at the wiring harness going to the parking/headlight switch. By using a test light, I figured out which one is the switched on wire. I don't remember if it was switched +12v or switched ground. I used a relay and use the parklight/headlight switch as the signal. Whenever my parking lights are on, so are the neons. You could wire a regular toggle switch to turn them off if you want.

Another alternative is to run a wire (fused) strait back from the battery to a switch, then to the neon. That way you don't have to have the parking lights on in order to turn on the neons (although that is a cool idea too). They are low draw (1 - 1.5 AMP for the fuse should cover your 2 neons). I have 2 - 20" tubes under my dash, 2 - 9" under my seats, and another 20" in my bandpass box.

I don't have a "How To" write up, but it is a fairly simple process that I would be more than willing to walk you through. The hardest part is finding a cool place to mount the switch

Check out my Home Page for some pics.

You could pick a fuse from the box by your left knee to stuff the wire in and a near by nut or bolt for a ground and rip the ciggy lighter adapter off the neons - red to a fuse with an inline switch if you want and black to a metal part under the dash.

Or you could fish a wire from your dome or map lights down the A pillar under the dash and to your neons, that way the factory switches can activate them, just take out the light bulbs.

I just went behind the cigrette lighter. Spliced into the two wires there. When I turned the lights on, they came on...........

i did this to my car too. i hope im not a rice well i wired them so that when i turn on my park lite or head lite the come on. i just spliced the lite that is in the glove box because that lite comes on when the park lite or head lites are on. i just spliced it before the switch so that the neons wont go off when i close the glove box.
