OBX SS Header/Y-Pipe? Max8MyCash? Custommaxima.com? Anyone?

Alex or Greg or anyone got a hook up on these or know for sure if they are available yet?

They have part numbers listed on the website:
http://www.obxracingsports.com/perfo...=3&subcatID=22
H00056 Maxima 00- 3.0L $499.00
H98996 Maxima 98-99 3.0L $499.00
H95976 Maxima 95-97 3.0L $499.00

The CLS and AV6 guys got a GB going for around $340 shipped. That deal was on the shorty headers and Y-pipe together.

if i remember correctly, headers do a major difference in honda's and acura's...yet they won't do anything for us? are they just as effective as a y-pipe?

If they are just as effective as a Y-pipe, then its worth it. My Y was over 300 anyway and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

1st, this is a Y-pipe AND shorty header for the same price as a Cattman or Stillen Y-pipe.

2nd, Emaxs' NZ headers were crap! Poorly designed and he even said they admitted that. It was an attempt, but headers REQUIRE lots of R&D to improve over OEM nowadays. Heck, HotShot is on like Gen 5 for it's Sentra SER header. They keep improving and improving the design.

3rd, Dons' boring out headers is not the same as R&D headers. His headers only showed the stock headers were flowing pretty well and that opening them up gained bumpkiss. There is MORE to header design than just boring them out.

4th, headers would eliminate the other precat, balance exhaust flow, prolong ....NM....

IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BUY THEM, GTFO of the thread.

THANK YOU

I am so sick of hearing the typical BS people always say when headers are brought up. No offense "confused" but this subject has been beat to death, I think people can make there own oppinions at this point.

Can you still pass inspection now that even the pre-cat would be gone?

Supposedly, once the main cat lights off you will pass.

However, you need to have the car tested while at operating temperature.

Stillen Y-pipe = $350

Cattman Y-pipe = $375

OBX Y-pipe AND Shorty Headers = $340ish????

I'm just guesstimating on the OBX price, since the CL-S and AV6 guys also have a V6 and theirs was $340 shipped.

For around that price i would definately be in and sell my y pipe for the whole nice SS setup, just to get rid of that damn cali spec precat remaining Whose setting it up?????

Don't jump the gun.

1)We don't know if these are actually available, yet(Alex is calling Monday!).
2)We don't know the GB price, that was just a ballpark GUESS?
3)This is most likely not worthwhile for people who already have an aftermarket Y-pipe, since it MIGHT not gain anything over a Y-pipe for N/A. Plus, it will be a pain in the **** to install these headers according to Emax.

I'm not jumping the gun, just getting excited, i realize the gains are minimal, but with my still remaining precat i'd really enjoy this.....i know people who could do this with their air tools, and have shop quality tools, so i think they could do it

I agree, I'm trying to squeeze every single HP out of my auto I can. I want to hit 15.1 without any type of boost. Im not sure if its possible, but I really want to hit that mark. Hopefully they are available. I would definitely sell my cattman Y and use this setup if its out.

No dyno results, no actual product pictures yet... don't get too excited yet.

I'd love to see a set, though, especially a well-designed one that actually makes more power than the stock manifold/aftermarket y-pipe combination. AEBS looked at doing a set in `98 or so, but determined they could only do shorty headers and so we lost interest in the project. I forget who else has also looked at Maxima headers... *shrug* I'm getting old and forgetful these days.

!!!THIS IS ONLY FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE INTERESTED!!!

Guys, these debates have been beaten to death in the GENERAL AND GEN SPECIFIC FORUMS already. IF these are available and a deal happens, we will hopefully see dyno results. Until, someone actually gets a set, nobody knows the gains/loss.

The skeptics do NOT need to express their opinion HERE! Go to the General or Gen specific forums for your whinning.

Thanks!

The OBX website says that there is a header system for 4th gen. Costs $500.

http://www.obxracingsports.com/perfo...=3&subcatID=22

H98996 Maxima 98-99 3.0L n/a $499.00
H95976 Maxima 95-97 3.0L n/a $499.00
They say they also have ceramic headers available:

HC98996 Maxima 98-99 3.0L n/a $449.00

that's pretty salty just for headers isn't it? No y pipe combo? Either way if they're is a good group deal i'll probably be in if the headers can bolt right on to my y pipe. Will it bypass my cali spec precat since im 99.5? Also any idea what's the difference between the SS and the ceramic

The Acura CL/TL and AV6 guys got a group buy for $340 shipped. Hopefully, ours is in that ballpark.

SS = Stainless Steel
CC = Stainless Steel with Ceramic Coating

$100 more? YOU KNOW WHY! We always pay more, because we don't buy as many. No love, I tell ya!
