hey all. i am a soon to be maxima owner. my uncle is giving me his 91' se w/only 81k on it. sweet huh? well anyways i've been reading up on ur guys' posts to learn more about the max and i plan to mod mine as soon as more cash gets flowin' i do have some questions about the bose stereo though. in the car the only speaker that puts out sound is the one on the driver's door. i suspect the head unit, but how do i tell? i have a new alpine cd player i want to throw in there and i'm gonna some some alpine subs too but can i keep the bose speakers or do i have to replace them? thanks

u gotta ditch the bose speakers unless u buy an adapter..but itd be risky since u dont know if the speakers are dead or if its the head unit. Most people just get new speakers.
Do a search for stereo stuff..its come up a lot...

If your car is an automatic BTW u might want to have it serviced soon before 100k just to be safe...untill 92 they had weak trannies

Bose aint all bad

Your amps are fried, adn headunit too, but it cost a crap load of money to have the whole thing rewired. i got all four amps replaced and bought a pioneer cd player, and then got a crossover amp to hook them up to the Bose speakers... the sound is GREAT! my friend has a 92 SE and he totally rewired with double the cost of mine...mine sounds much better, he would say the same, but if you got the $ then do whatever...but i tell you it sure sounds good, and i dont even have a sub or anything..my uncle is a music producer and he was riding with me the other day and commented on the quality..so good luck on it

speakers

you can keep the speaker's, just bybass the amp that powers each speaker, it's easy and it works, best of all you don't have to buy anything. I did it. Ran 'em hard till I finally upgraded to quarts all around...

Re: whats a tranny cooler?

It for the most part just attached to your transmission and helps it stay cool since our maximas have a nice history of wanting to overheat.
