Go to http://www.tirerack.com they tell you what fits your car and you can see your car with the rims on it.
also look at http://www.discounttiredirect.com they have some awsome deals, probably the cheapest place on the net.

I would go for 17 X 7.5" or 17 X 8"
you can get some nice new 17s for as low as 99$ per rim (and no, i'm not a spokesperson for discounttiredirect.com )

i should have held off on buying my 16s, o well

thanks. I already know what I'm getting, I just don't know the offset etc. I wasn't sure if I wanted 17" or 18" Volk Racing wheels..

beware

some websites assume that the suspension setup and wheel clearances are the same for all maxima's from 89-00. we all know this is not true. case in point 16/7.5 NA 300ZX wheels. they have the factory nissan offset (35?) and they dont fit 3rd gens without some spacers/longer studs/thinner tires (thinner than 225's) or combo of all three. however the do fit the 4th/5th gen without any alteration to the vehicle. beware of the offsset, i have 17/8 Rota Stage 5's with 245/45/17 (35mm offset according to manufaturer). they fit the fronts no problem but the rears needed a 5mm spacer. however they were supposed to fit without any changes. so now my offset is 35 front and 30 in the rear.

the way i understand offset is this
the center of the rim is zero. so if the mounting face of the rim is at the "center" the rim has a zero offset. if it is farther toward the streetside this is a positive offset. if it is closer to the inside of your vehicle than it a negative offset.

hope this helps

i'm really confsued..say for a 1992 nissam maxima gxe, would i still use 35 up front, 30 in rear for offset? i don't wanna get a set of 2,000$ rims and find out they don't fit.

IF you need anything on those Volks, you'll only need about 1/2" spacers..

usually 17x8 with 45mm offset will fit just fine.

300ZX rims are 16x7.5 with 45mm offset and require a 1/4 or 1/2" spacer. I forget which.. (plus I've had more beers tonight than there are lugnuts on our cars.

17s

do you guys think 17s will look decent? I was debating between 17 and 18 and I picked 17, one, they were $400.00 cheaper, two, teh rubber doesn't cost as much as the rim ;p

but i've seen some nice cars with 18s, it looks great. dunno bout 17 though. also, any idea how much the stock maxima rims weigh each, and are they 15s?

Sheeit, take a look around.. almost all the guys here run 16 or 17 if they're not stock.. 18 are too big (IMO), but also common..

no the spacers won't make them stick out.. they're only 1/2" spacers, not 3 1/2" spacers! they're very common on our cars, and most times you never even know they're there.

Why do 18's cost more when there's actually LESS rubber on the tire? If that was the case then the stock 205/65's should cost a ton more because theres soooo much rubber...??

chug, chug, GO SCOTT Go!!, chug!

the bolt pattern is 5 on 114.3mm or 5 on 4.5in. the lug nuts are 12mm by 1.25. as far as spacers are concearned make sure you have enough thread on the studs to securely tighten the lugs.
