My Vacation Photos???
My Vacation Photos???
Well, it actually felt more like prison...being that I spent the whole week in my 8x8 cell behind bars!!! But, it was needed in order to finally get my roll cage completed. I hope you guys/girls enjoy the photos:

The Main Loop was a real pain getting the template right. Fortunately, it all came together in the end. But, I did have a hell of a time getting the plates to hold. The welds look pretty massive now. But, I am more concerned about strength and rigidity than looks in a rollover.

Here is a view from the back once I got the front bars in place and tied in the connecting piece near the windshield.

I decided to add a few tabs here to take advantage of the factory mounts. However, I will be adding a few more connections through the firewall in order to tie in the front struts. But, that will have to wait till I finish working on the new motor.

Re: My Vacation Photos???

This was a little difficult getting everything just right. But, I am happy with the end product.

And, I think it will look fine outside the vehicle when it is all painted.

I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what I wanted with this section. NHRA specs made it way too difficult to get in and out of the vehicle. Besides, I was more concerned about side impact. I have seen a lot of ITC/ISMA vehicles lose their doors in rollovers and/or not fair too well hitting tire barriers and stuff.
Re: Re: My Vacation Photos???

I still need to fabricate new seat backets and tie everything into the cage properly. But, I can only get so much done now that is getting dark/cold so friggin' early.

This gives you a better idea of what I am talking about. I will finish this up this weekend after I pick up a few pieces of square tubing.

Nonetheless, I feel the cage is prety much complete at this point. Like I said, not what I would call a "vacation" per say. But, it is one more project I can finaly cross off the list.
By the way, the fab shop that did my mandrel bending told me they would have charge approximately $3,000.00 for this type of cage...considering it ended up being a 32 point installation.
Not bad for $150.00 and a weeks worth of my time!!!

My roommate is an ironworker and certified welder he has access to his shop on the weekends. When I finished my basement I knocked down part of a load bearing wall. We fab'd an I-beam and columns there. If you can get all the specs he can make it.

email me ls1camaroz28@hotmail.com when you are working on the Honda next, I'll come check it out. By the way I did a engine/tranny swap from auto to stick in a '79? Civic. I have some experience with them. The CVCC is one PITA to make power. I had a friend that ran a flared CVCC Civic, that car was CRAZY and beat most of us at the autoxs back in California (NorCal United Five Ten owners) Nor-Cal UFO http://www.norcalufo.org

in my college years, I was once coming home from work really late and this v6 mustang was messing with me. We got to the light and he started revving. So I surprised him
well, to the next light.. I knew it was all about weight/gearing, to the next light that is. So I shamed him in front of his girlfriend.
Joke was on me because in the morning I noticed it wasnt running well. Really bogging. I soon found out that I had shaved all the lobes on the cam almost perfectly round
