Bought a used UDP, it has a gouge in the belt area, should I send it back?
I bought an Unorthodox racing UDP that was 'in brand new condition'
on e-bay. I recieved it today, it is pretty scuffed up which is no big deal but it also has a double gouge in the area where the belt rides. It looks like somebody pried something against it to stop it from turning when it was removed. Is this going to cause a problem when it is installed? Will it cause belts break prematurely or any other problems? Could I sand the rough edges off or should I just make the seller take it back?
If you look in the lower picture the line is the gouge http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ME:B:EOAB:US:6
EDIT - Update
I emailed the seller and told him I wanted a refund. He said he would give me a refund after he talked to his mechanic. After a long delay and several ignored emails he replied saing there is nothing wrong with the pully and he would not give me a refund
. He even told me that Unorthodox told him that the pully is OK to use.
I don't know how Unorthodox could determine that the UDP is fine without seeing it and in any case I did not want to risk putting a damaged pully on my car. In addition I bought a UDP in 'Like new condition' NOT 'Damaged but usable' and I let the seller know I still wanted a refund since it was not in the condition it was described in. I spent $12 to ship the pully back to him through insured mail and he refused delivery.
He still refused to give me a refund and the time limit for fileing a complaint with EBAY and PAYPAL had already passed. However I was still within the time limit for getting a chargeback (IE refund) through my credit card company and I did get a refund through my CC.
I would definatly recommend that if you have a problem with something you buy on Ebay you insist on a prompt refund and do not wait to file a complaint if the seller does not give a refund quickly.
I will probably sell this pully and consider the money compansation for my shipping charge, and my time and agravation. I will of course clearly describe the true condition of the UDP so I am sure I will not get much for it.
I bought another used UR UDP (I know, I never learn) from an .org member for $125 shipped with belts. This one was in good condition and after the install I am very happy with it. The cost was slightly more than a new UDP from RVM but now that I see the Problems with the RVM UDP I am glad I went with the Unorthodox.

It will cause the pulley to be out of balance.
My mechanic insisted that I watch him install my UR Pulley, stating that he wouldn't scuff or gouge it like other ignorant mechanics.
He said that keeping the Pulley Balanced is "a must."

Here's the pully --

I guess my first step will be to ask the seller to refund my money and send the pully back to him. I will recomend that he ask his mechanic to reimburse him for the pully if he paid a mechanic to install/uninstall it. If that doesn't work I can try to go through e-bay or pay pal and even my credit card. But hopefully it doesn't come to that. I should probably just get a brand new one from RVM racing for ~$80.

For those reading this post that do not have a UDP, check out this group deal for a great price on a reliable UR UDP:
