I broke my RCA connector on my head unit...
Last night I was doing yet more work on my stereo and I went to go pull off my overpriced Rockford Fosgate Gamma Riot Geometry RCA cables off of my head unit. The connectors on these cables are really tight and as I pulled off the left channel on my non-fading output it poped off the gold ring that was on the female side on the stereo! I freaked out, but the subs still worked (mono - which I realized was coming from the right channel).
I was going to leave the working one alone but I couldn't help myself. I figured that I would hold onto the gold ring with pliers so it didn't pop out. Sure enough it popped out the whole connector leaving me with only the wire and a red plastic cover!
I freaked out again and headed to Radio Shack. Luckilly, they had a female RCA connector that I was able to solder on to my radio (there is about 4 inches of wire on the RCA cables on the back of the radio). This was my 2nd time working with a soldering iron but I was able to fix it!
I plugged the radio back in and the bass was back!
If this has happened to anyone else, let me know and I can give you the part number. The only thing I didn't like about the Radio Shack RCA connector is that it wasn't gold plated. Sounds the same, but for looks I would have like to have the gold.
