Made my own custom headlights and tails

Ok, here are the pictures of my custom headlights and tail lights. I painted the chrome-frame black on my headlights, and painted my gxe red tails to look like SE black tails. Cost me a total of about $30 and a couple hours of fun with Y2kSESteve. Here are some pics:

Then when you're done we can solve the problem we have with the HIDs? You guys seem to have some more experience with headlight mods than Nissan does.

Yes, we used Steve's BRUTE STRENGTH to rip the headlights apart, and his artistic touch to paint them. All in all, he did most of the work, but then again, that is the way it goes with most of my mods.

Do you mean the problem with them getting stolen? They really need to add more brackets, it was really easy to remove them from the car...a little bit TOO easy...

This is a picture of my painted headlight in the kitchen. And included in the picture is a 'Y2kSESteve Authentic Thumbup' hahaha. We only had to redo this picture, what steve, 4 times or so to make sure the lighting and your hand posture was correct?

BASTARD! I thought I was being original. It's ok, now WE are the only two on the boards with these. I think they look awesome, they are probably just a bit less noticeable on your car, being as it is black, but it adds a devilish look to our cars.

Thanks for all the compliments guys! No, they don't look ghetto, cheap, ricey, not really sure what they're doing on my car actually! I like the change, and I think they look like AE headlights without spending $200.

Cuz we both agreed that white colored tails would not look good at all. IMO it only looks good on dark colored cars.

Agreed. Body color looks weird to me.

What kind of paint did you use for the headlights again??

looks great! im gonna try to same on the tail-lights, i just like the look of the black much more than the clears. and im gonna get rid of that ORANGE light-cover and go clear ... the older style SE tail-lights just look much much nicer than the clear ones, IMHO.

great work!

You dont have much of a choice about the orange lens. Its impossible to get it out. Search for posts by emax95. He did however, use Vans translucent tail-light paint and painted over the orange lens. It looks really good. You can paint over the chrome though, if you want. just my two cents.

Edit: ASU, from what he told me, the place he is leasing it from is a bunch of idiots and thought the only difference between 2k-2k1 and 2k2+ maximas was the headlights and tail lights. If he were leasing it from a dealership it would be different.

I already warned him about making changes to leased cars I hope it works out for him...Some of those guys are idiots and won't notice things like that...I just hope the guys he leased from are that way

Yes, my car is leased but not to a Nissan Dealership. I leased my car through www.centennialleasing.com and they do not know **** about maximas. When i went to get my car, they told my parents the difference between the 02 and 01 maximas are the headlights, tail lights, and gauges. If it wasn't for this ignorant statement, i would have had an 02 SE instead of an 01 GXE.

I could either turn the car back in 2 and a half years from now with my painted tails, or buy the GXE tails off of someone for the $10 they are worth.

had my fake SE tails for 2 years!!! hehehhe

By the way i'm just wondering, did you use black paint for your tails?
Cuz i use smoked clear black paint and mine are really looking like SE tailight. The SE ligths arent black but kinda clear, so i recommend to use smoke black, you could get the expensive kind called folio tech, or you could alwayz use the cheap $2-$3 can for model cars

Yeah, I did black paint, but I wanted the black paint over the smoke. I figured it would look better with my tint, seeing as they are both the same shade of black.
