What kind of hitch can I get?

I need to be able to haul my bike to track days and some racing this year. What kind of hitch should I buy and where should I get it?

The manual says the car has a 1000 pound towing and tongue capacity. What does the tongue weight mean?

Hitch

Draw Tite makes a Class 1 hitch that will fit a 5th Generation Maxima. Check out their web site for dealers in your area. I believe the tongue weight refers to the total weight of what you're trying to tow. The class 1 hitch is good for up to 200 pounds. That is much more capability than you'll need for a hitch rack and a couple of bikes.

I had a Thule roof top rack and got rid of it. The hitch rack is much more convenient. No bikes on the roof. I think I paid about $160 for it with installation.

Good luck

I'll see what Draw Tite has to offer, but I guess I should have specified - when I said bikes I meant 400 pound sport bikes.
