Well. Recently acquired a 90 GXE Maxima. I was completely blown away by the features this 13 year old car has. I think it was light years ahead of competition. Whatever happened to Nissan since then?
Features:
Digital Readout Gauges
AC Climate Control
Electronically controlled suspension damping
HUD (Heads up display)
This is all on a 13 year old car. Hell, Corvettes didn't even get the HUD until 99 and Nissan had it in 89

yes
3rd gens were way ahead of their time..
btw,
that thing looks CLEAN.
Don't sell it bro.. keep it as a beater. It's hard to find a low milage, 3rd gen with options these days
it's more cost effective to exclude these little things now a days...
once i made the step from 3rd gen ---> 4th gen, i noticed a LOT of things different...
completely different cars...
they don't make em like they used to.

In before all the 3rd gen *****
who says 3rd gens don't get their respect
i think everyone in general would agree they were excellent cars for their time...
i miss my 3rd gen
*wipes a tear*

Yup! That is why us 3rd gen guys are soo religious and in to our cars. Especially after finally seeing the 6th gen, there will no longer be a "real" Maxima 4DSC. The 4th and 5th gens cannot touch the 3rd gen's build quality and it is too bad they cost soo much for Nissan to build and they had to change the design. They should just bring the 3rd gen back with a upgraded design, but oh well, Ive got mine

hence the rear beam
shall we continue?
Probably because it thinned Nissan's profits.

heheh doi...my dad's 91 SE is sweet, still, at 160k miles.
Seems like lot of cars during the early 90's had ... interesting features that were later discovered to be problematic or unsafe: sliding seatbelts, digital gauges, talking cars....

How often do you people that have sport/confort settings on your suspension/etc actually take it off the "sport" setting?

This isnt a flame or a dis or anything like that... I wanna know, seeing as how my Max, or any car I've owned for that matter, hasn't had these settings...

Imagine a 4th Gen. Maxima, with a 3rd Gen. interior (features), and a 5th Gen. (specifically 2k2+) engine. That would be pretty sweet!

IMHO: The whole talking car stuff is gay, 3rd gens dont have that, that was only 1st and 2nd gens. I dont have that adjustable suspension dudad crap either. I have a 92 SE, that is when Nissan did away with the fruity stuff and were making DRIVERS cars. I have the power/comfort mode and use it alot, when in power it is like a 5 speed, it will hold gears til redline, in comfort it shifts at 2k rpm. I have a fully loaded 92 SE auto, soon to be 5 speed (28 Days), power and heated mirrors, vlsd, variable intake, vtc, dual power seats, abs, SE ghost white gauges all the stuff needed to still be pimp with the new cars...VE POWER!
Dude, what the hell. My 90 GXE didn't have all that stuff! I thought it was loaded. It had leather, bose, etc.. but certainly no digital dash, no hud, no climate control. It did have the suspention control, but it was a switch, not a button like that. I too miss my 3rd gen, even without those features.. but the power and the exterior of the 4th gen have got it hands down in my book (it's ok if not in other's books).

no VI on the auto VE......
