Listen Up! The only 2 ways to stop the sell of "illegal" items on eBay
Ok guys,
This will be quite important to most of you. As I am sure most everyone has read the post on the "Stolen HID's on eBay", this information may come in handy when you consider reporting these items to eBay. There is nothing eBay can really do to get these items taken off their site. eBay may be able to put a scare into the seller by calling him up and asking if their items are authorized, but all a seller has to do is provide a simple lie and the items stay up.
There is only 2 ways to get these items removed.
The first way would be to get everyone on this message board and everyone you know to email this seller, asking detailed questions and maybe accusing him of stealing these items. Put the pressure on the seller, make them know they are being watched. With enough pressure, the seller is bound to take the items down.
The second way is to get Nissan to join eBay's Verified Rights Owner's program (VeRO). What we should try to do is let Nissan know about these types of items being sold. As Nissan is the Copyright owner of these lights, they may have the right to report these items, stating that they believe that the items are potentially infringing on their rights, and have the lights removed. Understand that Nissan would have to report these items and it would be their sole responsibility only.
Now if there is enough outcry and Nissan cares enough about these items and the people that buy their great cars, we may be able to get them removed. So I say we bring this up with Nissan and see what we can do!

I am hearing your Ideas but There is a Small problem
1) The seller can choose not to Answer your Email
2) The Seller has the right to Sell parts, Nissan Can't do much b/c its a used part. Copyright has nothing to do with this. The sell is not making these lights, he is just selling used/Stolen ones.
Just what I think I guess, I'm open to others opinion on this..

This sounds good and all, but wouldn't the VeRO program prevent honest people from selling other Nissan parts on eBay? They wouldn't be able to single out just the HID headlights, and what if they are legit sellers, like Courtesy Nissan's?

I see your point. But remember that Nissan would have the right to discern between the good and bad sellers. It is easy for a rights owner to tell the difference between a stolen, potentially infringing item, and a new, in box, from a dealer type auction.
Also, Nissan does have the right to say that something is "Potentially" infringing on their rights. A stolen item could infringe on their rights, and could be taken down by them.
I had my HIDs stolen on Thursday.I think all we can hope for is for the HIDs to die out, until than, install a good alarm and garage the car. That's what I'm going to do. HIDs are just like CD players when they first came out, everyone was getting theirs stolen, eventually the HID wave will die out soon when HID kits become cheaper or another manufacturer makes a car which has HIDs that are easier to steal than the Maxima's (like that's possible )
What also would help is to have the police pull over all these civics and saturns and ask them how they got their lighting systems and look at the receipts, it makes me sick now, I just drove back from school with two big holes on the front end of my car where my headlights used to be and I saw an Eagle Premier being driven by a young kid with HID's, I couldn't help but to think that they most likely came from a Maxima.
