I second that, get 18X8 at least. Definitely don't go any smaller than 18X7.5, then you can only use Nittos and Kumhos.

my first maxima have 18X7.5 chrome rims on it, vault jade v301. If maxima's can fit 20's, obviously they can fit wide 18's...come on now

Is that what those Dome shaped things are?!! Man I have tantrums too (a gift from a friend) but tried to place them on the rear wheels first and just thought they didn't fit. I was about to sell them too! How do you get these things off? I looked in my Haynes manual but all they show are pictures of it, not how to take it off.

not only will you see that the 7.5" are to thin but you will also feel it.

you saw the last wheels i had, they where 18x8.5 with a nice lip with 245/45/18 tire and they looked small.

in a 18" wheel i would not go smaller than 8" wide.

they look small because you are running the wrong tire size..

Most tire manufacturers fudge on their specs so they claim their 8" width tires will fit 7.5-9". The safest choice would be to get the 8" wheel because it would match exact spec with the tire spec, rather than using the same tire on a 7.5" rim.

I run 18x8s and 8.5s to clear my brakes

I didnt exactly plan to get big brakes when I bought the Maxi but hell if I settled for 7.5 rims I woulda had to go rim shopping once again (not like I'm not a friggin wheel packrat anyhow...)

i think i know what you're getting at...

for me even if i had an 8" wide rim instead of the 7.5" i'd still be running a 235 tire so it doesn't make a difference

Stillen/APs-

actually to tell you the truth... I never have actually tried to see if a 7.5" rim would clear or not clear... I'm sure with some spacers it would

but Ange had alot of problems making her Volks clear 7.5 inch wide

but ... never gave it much thought- my wheels cleared so forget the rest

ange also had 17's.. don't know if that made a diff.. but i have never heard of anyone having problems with Stillen BB and 7.5 .. i think 1MAX2NV had his Stillen BB with 7.5 rims.. i am not sure..
