Can anyone help Mr. Cranman find a distributor of the Dawes Vacuum Switch???

Quoted Mr. Cranman

Dawes doesn't sell the devices that we were using anymore so I'm having to go to a junk yard and get them off cars for the vacuum switch. Just to give everybody a heads up. Dawes was going to tell me where I could get them but he never responded after telling me he would like the second week of December and did follow up but no response. Does anyone here know of where you can get them???
There's going to be a lot of people needing these soon. I actually need one myself.

Salvage Yard

Dave B and myself are using vacuum switches off of a 1996 Lexus ES300 motor. Also the same motor that is in the 1996 V-6 Camry. The engine code is a 1MZFE. There are three of them on there that I know of for sure.

EDIT

Sorry, re-read the post title again and realized this response doesn't really help you out. It is another alternative for vacuum switches though.

It's good to know that there are alternate vehicles to look for so this does help.

Flo-Products

This company appears to make any possible type of solenoid valve you can think of. Although no pictures are on the site, it appears you can get a 3 way 12VDC solenoid with modest power requirements. Too often, searches lead you to heavy duty industrial products. This company appears to make that and also the low power stuff that we require.

When I went looking for a vacuum solenoid in the junk yard, I found hundreds of them. Well, maybe that is an exaggeration, but they are pretty common on Japanese cars, and junk yards sell them pretty cheap. I got two off of a Nissan Stanza or Sentra that must have had five of them.

Can you post a picture of what they look like from those cars?

Another potential... coming from GM no less!

Take a look at the boost solenoid used in these GM turbos. It looks to fit the bill to a tee. Remember, Dawes Devices was catering to this market as well. 3 ports, one used for a vent. Site: http://www.tragacs.com/turbo.html
Solenoid:

I emailed the site author about the solenoid and he replied today:

They are still avaiable from GM. Part number is #1997152. It's a couple of
bucks.

HTH,
Falco
